I have an '06 Mustang GT with a 5-speed.
A few weeks ago I bought the C&L street CAI & SCT Xcal2 tuner package from Brenspeed. I also bought the Steeda underdrive pulleys. I put the CAI on and applied the 87 octane tune per the instructions, but I still haven't installed the underdrive pulleys. Gas is too damn expensive right now to go to the 93 octane tune. Besides, it's really a lot quicker even with the 87 octane tune!
My problem is my engine can't seem to figure out where it wants to idle. Usually when it's cold it idles at between 1500 and 2000 rpm's for awhile until it warms up and then it varies between 800 and 1000 rpm's afterward. It doesn't always do this, but it almost never idles below 800 or 850 and it seems to be varying its idle a lot of the time. Also, sometimes when I first start it up and begin to let out the clutch it will start to surge and continue to go up and down like I'm pushing down and letting up on the gas. I have to completely get out of the pedal to make it stop doing this. This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be irritating.
Has anyone else experienced this? Should I reapply the tune? Or could this be happening because the tune is setup for the underdrive pulleys which I haven't installed yet? Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks.
