Would this be what I need to rebuild a burnt rear end? By rebuild, I mean everything in side the "pumpkin" was burned up. The only thing salvagable are the axles and housing. I figured I'd upgrade the LSD and axles though.

About $800... Cheaper than Ford quoted me of over $1,000 for stock parts. I may just get the bearing rebuild kit and rear end girdle system though and get a carrier out of a wrecked mustang sitting on by my mechanics shop and just have him rebuild using that stuff instead :) It'll be a lot cheaper (only $400).

ford racing sells a complete rear end minus the axles for $800

3.73 gears and 28 spline. backlash etc preset, bolt on and go.

thats what im going to do, I cant afford building seperate and messing up the backlash.

Yeah, but that's stock stuff still except for gears. We'll see though, they may be the right route since my axles are fine.

Replace the crush sleeve with a solid pinion spacer (summit p/n RAT-4105 $17). It comes with shims and gets torqued to 125ftlbs. It eliminates any under or over crushing of the sleeve and not getting pre-load correct. just my .02
how does the solid one work? how do you know what shims to use? do u just pull the stock crush sleve out and measure then setup the solid one the same?

Yes, you measure the used crush sleeve (crushed), then using shims you make the solid spacer ring the same thickness. When installed there is no guessing on torque. 125ftlbs and check pre-load. If it is high or low you adjust .02 shims at a time untill a 125ftlb TQ gets your pre-load right. The kit comes with directions.
