ok so i just ordered my O/R x pipe and i just wanted to clear 2 things up in my head. I bought them used.. soo i was wondering. (looked couldn't really find anything) where could i find a gasket for the pass side exhaust i need one right.. even for a 97... kinda confused on that.
and second. if my car is TOO loud would i be able to add some high flow cats latter on down the road, or do i have to buy a new mid pipe??

Thanks

gasket-ford dealer get the OEM metal one. Im prety sure 97 requires it for that side too but someone tell me if Im wrong.

What midpipe did you order, some like bassani offer the ability to take out and put in cat's, other's dont. Since you are asking the question though, Im assuming you didn't get one that has that ability. You can find cat's that you can order for about 45 bucks a peice that you can have welded in.

well they are UPR i'm buying them from someone on my other forum.. also the cats would be there for emmisions perpuses (sp) and i would love to take them out everyonce in a while.. would i be able to do kinda like bassani does and have them able to change out between pipe and cat?? or would that be too hard??

yeah i could do that...

ok soo are the UPR's good i have heard good things about them and i am getting a good deal too.. 125 to my house.. its the best i have found in a while...

but are they good??

No you wouldn't because you're talking welding every time you want to switch. Bassani is an easy switch because it is made to do that. Your best bet would be to just switch the stock H as durst said every time you need emmissions testing, or you could have gone with a high flow catted mid but then you are talking more money.

I don't have any first hand experience from upr, only heard them over the internet and they are decent sounding.

96-98 does require the gasket...make sure you get a metal one from the dealer. The paper ones will just blowout. That metal gasket is also a press fit, so it should only be used once. I think they are $21.00 last time I bought one.

i've used the same OEM metal gasket for my stock H when passing smog and Catted X for daily driving for 5 years and have had no problems with any leaks.

ok..

soo just one more question... is the install really hard to do.. i will be hitting the bolts with some PB blaster from monday till i get the pipes to hopfully make it easier to get the bolts off.. but except for that 1 pass side bolt is it a hard intall???

Ive heard people say it wasn't that hard to get off the bolts but in my case it was and chances are it will be a PITA for you. Word of advice. Do the pass side bolts first, if you can't get those, not worth wasting your time on taking the others off, midas well take it to a shop then. The others will be a peice of cake. Pb plaster is a good idea. soak it over night. other than that no man it's really not hard to do, I would suggest having another set of hands to hold it up or maybe a jackstand would work. If you dont have access to a lift then everything mentioned will be harder based on the fact that you are on your back instead of your feet obviously. good luck man.

well i will be soaking the bolts for a couple days, 1 because my car has 95XXX miles on it. and two it was a major PITA just to get one of the rear O2 sensors off when it went bad, so i want those bolts to be as easy to get of as possible.. and the PB blaster helped a ton on the O2 sensor

as of right now i have some flowmasters with turndowns on them.. but i would love to get my hands on some Bassani or Borla... I actuallly will put turndowns on this car till i get rid of it.. the SN97 bodies look soo much better w/o tips IMHO

and as for tools i read somewhere you need a swivle joint a couple extensions a 15mm or 17mm bolt what else am i missing??

This is how you will need to use the tools to get at it if it is the same as 99+, 3/8 ratchet, 3/8 extension, swivel, 15mm socket (I think). You need to put it on in that order, you will soon find out why :D

Oh and I forgot the neosporin and bandaids too.

well htey will be here hopfully wensday and if i don't ahve to work i will get them on first thing i do... i will not drive my car wensday unless needed i might just borrow my brothers since he is out of town i really can't wait....

OHH and 2 funny things.. one of my friends thinks his exhaust on his neon will be louder when he gets it.. and he also thinks no cats will sound horrible on my stang... HAHAHAHA just wait till he hears it..

ohh and my car as is i was just at my church and some guy was standing infront of my car was talking on his phone, i started my car, and the guy got a big smile looked up and nodded.. i can't wait till sunday when i go up there...

1 more thing my car as is will set of really sensitive alarms,, will that be something i will have to get use to?? setting of alarms in the parking lots??

Well I cant believe with just some flows you set off alarms outside, In a parking garage where the vibration from your exhaust is contained, of course it will set off alarms. But if you are adding slp anything to your car, it will make it louder, so expect loud. Good luck man let us know how it goes.

My midpipe change was a 3 day adventure because some nuts were stripped and I had a hell of a time finding new nuts. But at that time I had other ways of getting around so it wasn't soo bad because my car is my DD. I definately got some satisfaction out of doing it myself too, get some buddies who will enjoy the adventure too and grab a 12...or 24 pack :D and have fun.

-on a side note...the stock midpipe sucks, cant wait to put my prochamber back on. :nice:
