22MPG?

What do you automatic guys normally get? I am going to probably go automatic on my next car (potentially an '05+ GT). I got 26-29.5mpg manually calculated mileage on a 3,300 mile 7-day trip in my 2000 Z28 6-speed... including a run with a Saleen and two Vipers 
(don't ask about the Vipers, it wasn't pretty)
I'd love to hear that I can get 22-24mpg consistently in an auto?

I have said the same thing in this forum many times, :Track: I wouldn't have ran him so far into the speedo normally but he pulled up from behind me and just started reving the ever loving life out of his little bow tie. For piece of mind there was no other traffic around, I hope all of us take that precaution when running WOT on public roads. But in short yes I agree.
By the way, I am very particular about my pony and check: oil, power steering, coolant, etc fluids right after checking tire pressure and looking for drips every time I stop for gas. I get funny looks from some folks but it puts my mind at easy while I drive over 1K miles away from home.
I'm going to assume that the tire change was from factory 235-55-17's to the 255-45-17 size? If so, this would represent over an inch difference in tire height, which in turn, would fool your car into thinking you've traveled X distance, when in fact you have traveled less. Depending on your calculation method, this could wreak havoc on your results.

Good catch, but I already retuned my ECU and told it about the different tire size. Man that is sad, I asked for help and then gave incomplete information about what I already done. Sorry should have said that in the beginning.
I think the guys have it nailed down to being to hot and having a dirty air filter. Thank you for reading and giving my your input though.

You should be able to do that easily, if you can keep your foot out of it (not so easy!) With my auto, I get anywhere from 27-29 on the highway. And that's with a lot of mountain driving....I work 2000 feet higher than where I live.
I'm on vacation this week, but not going anywhere, just catching up on honey-dos and stuff, so I've been doing a lot of driving around town, in 90+ weather, and am getting around 23-24. This is with an intake and tune. When it was stock (and not broken in), I was seeing about 23-24 highway, and maybe 19-20 city.
If your taking about the Charo comment, it was a joke.

I recently made a trip of about 1200 miles to northern Kansas and back on 35, which by the way is toll road the entire trip with nothing but cows and the occassional other car on the road. From Dallas to Topeka is just over 505 miles and made it in 5 hours 55 minutes there and 5 hours 20 minutes back. A few days in between the there and back, so averaged on those runs near hundred miles an hour speed and got 20.2 mpg. Now, i wish i had changed the air filter like Big Cat talks about but getting 25, NEVER and i drive conservatively until running on the highway.

my best trip west on I-80 thru nebraska has been 28.69 mpg. thats about the only time i ever go on the road with the stang. its always at least 24.5 mpg. i usually run at 78 mph on the speedo. thats a quiet spot in the exhaust. anyone with flows and O/R H knows what i mean.

In May I checked in at 24.1 from Plainfield, IN to Bettendorf, IA (fill to fill) averaging 75 to 80 mph. Not bad for this heavy a car. That's calculated w/ the old fashioned way because the trip computer is only an average and will throw everything off, if for instance you make a pit stop or hit heavy traffic.

'm in arlington, texas right now and on the way out from florida I got 31.0 mpg being the best so far (computer said 31.9, so it is not totally accurate come fill up time) and backed up with 30.0 mpg (computer was 30.9) and this was on I-20 coming from atlanta...my other tanks have been high 20's at fill up but have driving through towns on them tanks. I've owned the car for 3 weeks and have 3800 miles on it now 
and still have to drive home in a few days. I wouldn't have believed it either! My best to and from work was 28.6 and I was stoked about that being i drive 100 miles a day.

My '05 GT auto 'vert gets between 17-19 around town depending on how heavy my right foot gets. Highway is pretty solid at 23-24. The car was just 2 years old last month. Also, I do have mods: CAI, tune, underdrives, alum. driveshaft, FRPP axlebacks. They didn't seem to affect the mileage much.

mine works really well and can take a fair amount
Northwest, if you play it easy most of the time, there is no reason you couldn't get 24 MPG with an auto. I have gotten that kind of mileage a few times on long trips(40+ miles on the highway). I still average high 19s with mostly mixed driving.
