I just finished installing a new intake on my 351C, edelbrock performer, and a new carb, also edelbrock perform. Got it to run today, but I hear air blowing from somewhere. It idles at about 900-1000, but hearing this air makes me think there is a problem somewhere. Any ideas? TIA.

Update

Today I went out and cranked it up, car wouldn't stay running. Starts, then dies and sounds like it is starving for gas. If I hit the gas it will stay running, but as soon as I stop, it dies. I looked at the in line fule filter, there was some debris in it, thought it might just be clogged so I replaced it. Same thing, still dies. Now I am wondering if it is the ***e pump or could this be caused by a vacuum leak somewhere? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks guys. I plan to get back to it this weekend and I'll let you know how it worked out. I think I have it narrowed to either clogged jets in the carb or a vacuum leak so I am going to check both.

I talked to a guy in tech about a intake 351C manifold heat riser block-off that I saw in their online catalog for some clarification about application. He was adamant that the piece didn't exist for the Cleveland manifold and I must be looking at an intake for a Windsor instead. Well I called Summit and ordered the part using the part number from Edelbrock. The point of this is just because they are tech doesn't necessarily mean they are correct.
I don't know how an intake made for 2V heads can also fit 4V heads because the intake ports are so much larger. Now if the tech guy was thinkng of the aluminum Edelbrock 4V heads, then yes, a 2V intake will work because the intake ports of the aluminum Edelbrock 4v are similiar to the 2v cast iron heads.
