I installed a Mezire electric pump on my car 2 years (14K miles) ago and it works great. It keeps the motor at a constant 1/2 way on the temp gauge winter or summer. It of course does not create horsepower, but it does save about 16-18 parasitic HP. If you install an electric pump you can not use underdrive pulleys because you cannot change the pump pulley. But you can't save that HP in both places anyway, and won't need the underdrive pulley set up.

That's my 2 cents... Your milage may vary...

The same thing could happen with a mechanical pump, or if your cooling system failed, or your oil suddenly leaked. Do not be concerned about an electric water pump failing. I think Corvette uses electric water pumps from the factory.
