Hello everyone,

I've got a 2001 bullitt, 49,XXX miles, just got it a few weeks ago. About one in every twenty or so times I try to start the car, it turns over for about four seconds and just wont start, then it starts right up one the second attempt. Sometimes it will also just barely start after the four or five seconds of turning over, as in , run at 300-400 RPM instead of jumping to the normal 900-1000 rpm idle ( or w/e is "normal"). It will run at 300-400 then after a second, jump to normal RPMS. The motor is turning over, but its just not cranking. I dont know what would cause this problem? I'm really lost? The car runs like a top other than that.

This could be a fuel pressure problem. Check the fuel pressure at the rails to see if the fuel pump is going out. Fuel injectors might also be clogged. When is the last time you changed the fuel filter?

I just got the car a few weeks ago, so I havent changed it. Is is hard? I'm going to change the oil next week, so if its not to difficult, i'll change it aswell. And possibly buy some fuel injector cleaner?

Very common Mustang problem. Mine does it from time to time. Usually holding the key to on, waiting for the fuel pump to cycle and then starting it helps.

I beleive the problem is IAC related.

It's your IAC, mine would do the same thing on humid days. It would start but stall. If I kept my foot on the gas it would stay running till I let off. Some times just like you it would idle at around 250 rpm. I replaced the IAC a few weeks ago and all is good.
