..its winter, time to rebuild...

so heres my deal. its winter time now and that means time to park the car and do what needs to be done. its a completely stock 5.0L with 210km....everything is pretty much original, i want to upgrade and get a little quicker, but i dont want to get stupid with it. i want to keep the dependability, but have a little more pep. any suggestions?

H/C/I...full exhasut and a few bolt on's...

if you have the cash a trick flow kit is nice and can be built on top of very nicely....

i think the kit is a little over 2k?..... gears are cheap...

so what is your budget? are you paying for labor? there are huge differences in the answers you will get if you don't give more detail.... for example!

get a 408 with twin turbos, hci, buy everything maximum motorsports sells, gut the interior, oh, and a k&n filter.....

there is way too many routes and available parts to ask a bunch of mustang guys: i want to build up my mustang over the winter... what should i do???

my budget isnt a concern, all the labour is free, considering im going to do it myself. i dont want to go over board, so all the cheap quick tricks would be appreciated. a 408 would be awsome, but thats only good if your planning to go in a straight line for 9 seconds. i just want to take my stock 5.0 and make it quicker. like what ryan was mentioning, do a top end kit and exhaust. that would be a good start. thanks ryan! ...i just want ideas, not sarcasm.

I hate to admit this, but Ryan might have the best advise on this one. I would go with a H/C/I kit from Trickflow, Holley or even the Ford Racing kit with GT40x heads.

You'll also be needing a few other things to make it work right......Larger MAF, Throttle body, fuel pump, pressure regulator, injectors and new hardware.

Thats what I would do

you want pep.. why not go with the $1700 ford racing supercharger? i mean its 800 bucks cheaper than the trickflow h/c/i swap, its not an overboard mod but if youre lookin to keep it n/a then the h/c/i swap is perfect...

Well i think he's come to terms with the fact that now is the time for a shortblock rebuild/replace. With 210km on the clock...why not take care of the bottom end before you throw a 2k+ top end kit on there.

That being said...Get a new shortblock or rebuild the one you have. Then just toss that trickflow top end kit on there. It has proven itself over and over again. It makes very good streetable power. The kit is very comprehensive and will actually be quite affordable all said and done. Then just get a set of 24# injectors, and a Pro-m MAF and call it a day!
