when i bought the car the guy said it had 3:73's and when all i got out of it was a 14.56 i was a little disappointed.....so based on what i plan for the car i went ahead and stuck the 4:10's in and discovered the gears in the car were actually 3:27's....so now i figure not so bad.......what do you guys think the 4:10's will be worth?

FWIW, I ran a 14.20@95 w/ a 1.99 60' time on 245/45/17 street tires with just an o/r h-pipe, mufflers, cai, and a/c delete...this was with the stock 2.73 gears. Since thenI have added 3.73 gears and drag radials which should easily put me in the 13.7-13.7 range with a decent 60', however I only made it out once with the gears since I got the drag radials, and could only muster a 14.17@96 but it was 96* and humid out.

You have gone over 3/4 of a turn more ... that is huge

You need to give yourself enough time to learn how to drive it differently
to get the most gain from the ratio change :Word:

Getting to drive the car better at the track is the best way to drop your time. Throwing parts at it is not always the answer.

I had 3.27's in mine and was running mid 13's, Id say around 13.5 and I put in 3.73's and got 13.1 after that w/ no other changes to that point.

Ya, I totally agree. I didn't get nearly enough seat time to get acclimated to the gears since I only had the opportunity to go out once, and it was hot as balls out. I sold my Nitto DR's and I'll be getting a set of used Welds and ET Streets for next summer and see where I can get with no other changes.

For the original poster, I think that low 14's are definately possible.

to be honest the 4:10 were to compliment the future mods i plan on.....the friction discs were gone so my true intent was an overhaul....occasionally a 1 wheel peel here....so i put the gears in also....as for the driver mod well i hold my own....i pick up et in most cars i get in over there owners...but grady is right it will take a few pases to get used to going through the gears .....when i go to the track this time it will have a shift light to boot......as for the guy with the 13.1 well ive seen guys spray our cars on dr's and barely muster that.....nice job!....i think i could have cut a lower 14....but id need to get a better shifter....im kinda babying this car (as far as the trans is concerned).....hell i thought the 14.5 was good based on the 15.3 to 14.75's im used to seeing from these cars stock:shrug:

Most people see posts from those that have extremely impressive times. You need to remember, some tracks are faster than others. Either altitudes, temps, and even track condition/prep comes into play. In my area there is even an argument on where the sensors are located. One track owner says he is right, another track owner says they are right. Their sensors aren't in the same spot. Thus people 60ft better at one track over another. Every inch makes a difference.

I judge my times based on similar cars running at the track I ran them at. That's the only GOOD way to judge if something is wrong with your car or the way you drive.

Even different lanes will differ at the tracks. I always run the right lane at my track and many others prefer it as well and avoid the left lane. Maybe its all in my head but the right lane has always seemed to be better.

As far as times there is so many varaibles, tire pressure, track conditions, lane choice. Its hard to say what a car really runs w/ out testing out all of these.
