Wheel and Tire sizes...

I wanted to know what size wheels and tire sizes most of you folks are running on these 05+ models.

I recently picked up an 08 and have identified the wheel style I want, but without friends or other cars to compare to, I having a hard time feeling confident on the size.

I have the option of going with a 18x9 all around or 18x9 front and 18x10 rear. I don't want larger the 18" in diameter.

The sizes pretty dramatically alter the available brands. Also, the notion of a 10" wide wheel seems radically wide to me. I come from Fox and SN95 models and 9" is the widest I'd ever go with these cars. I feel pretty confident a 10" won't go on the rear of a Fox without clearance mods. This has me timid about the choices.

The tire sizes I am leaning toward on these wheels are a 255/45 with the 9s and/or 285/40 on the 10s. This would be with the Goodyear F-1s.

What combos have you chosen and do you have any online pics I can use to visualize the result.

Thanks abunch, Daren

Daren, I'm running 20x8.5 up front and 20x10 rear. No reason to be timid about the rear, the space we have out back in the S197 platform is far different than years past. You can comfortably run big wheels and most big rubber 305-315.

I know your not looking for a 20, but here's some 20x10 rear shots, don't forget, I'm lowered as well on prokit springs:

I found a 18x10 Drag radial pic I forgot about:

Actually, Darren, a lot of people run 10.5" on the back. I wish we had that option.

I'm running 18x9 up front and 18x10 out back. The tires are Nitto 555's 255/45/18 front and 295/45/18 rear. I like the larger sidewall. I used my SCT tuner to fix the speedo, since the tire is a bit taller than stock. I'm lowered with the Eibach Pro Kit.

Much thanks guys. Nice cars, both of you and extremely useful photos. I couldn't have asked for better.

From what I see, I feel the 10" rear is pushing the boundaries of the fender wells and body lines for my tastes. I'm am looking for a more conservative end result then what I see in these pictures. As a result I am now leaning to a 18x9 setup all around.

Are there any others willing to share their views and pictures?

Thanks again, Daren

DarkFireGT,

I did follow your link in your signature and looked at the pics for your other GT, the gray one. You selected 255/45s on 9" wheels. Interestingly you selected a Magnum style as I intend to do as well. I'm looking at a different maker however, your pictures have me feel a bit better about an 18x9 setup for all corners.

As a side note, I couldn't help noticing the quarter window louvers you've added in place of the windows. I do like the flush look. Can you send me a link from where you sourced those? I can't say I will go so far as to add that mod, but I am interested to consider it.

Thanks, Daren

Thanks for checking out the site. Yep, that car has 18x9's all the way around on 255/45/18. I love the look of a meaty tire out back, and if they had those wheels in 18x10, I'd have done that to that one as well. But that's me. If you would like me to post a few larger pictures of that one, I'll do that as well.

The louvers can be purchased pre-painted from the manufacturer http://www.silverhorseracing.com/
SHR is among the best customer service in the industry, hands down. They spend countless hours making sure their product is perfect, and they only sell items that their cars actually sport.

Although late to the ball game, I'll throw some of my pics in here as well:D

I can also vouch for the excellent quality of SHR products as I have 6 of their products(4 of which they make exclusively)!

Not the greatest pics, but the best I have at the moment.

18*9 in the front with 265/35/18 Summitomo's.

18*10 in the rear with 285/35/18 Summitomo's.

I also lowered the car with the FRPP K springs. There is more wheel gap with my setup than others who are running a 45 series tire. This is my setups only drawback. The space between the tire and fender in the front is 1.75", and 2.5" in the rear. I just can't bring myself to go with a taller tire, it just does not look right to me. "No offense to anyone! Just my opinion"

I'm running 18x9.5" wheels with Cooper 275-40-18 tires all around. I was consdering a larger tire but I got a smoking hot deal on these tires that were takeoffs from a Roush 427. The car is lowered about 1.6" with Vogtland springs.

Daren, I'm running the setup you are looking into. wheel size, same tires and size.
I wouldn't have done it any other way
