Yup thats what one of the guys i work with says' ' anyhow he was telling me of how

much of a great driver he is and he can really take the corners good ' it was getting

interesting cause im sure alot of ppl enjoy both like myself (track/drag) ' but then i asked him if he

enjoyed any straight line racing at the track ' his reply was that there was no skill in

drag racing and it was for babys and goes on to say theres more skill involved in

track' i then told him that he was wrong and he became abit Defensive / huffy

and started to turn a dark shade of red so this is when i stepped away cause i

dont like guys that think there always right. I just think its different strokes for different folks when it comes to the 2.
Soo lets all tell wally why drag racing is not for babys.

Then he goes on about the 351 is not a 5.8 but rather a 5.7 or 5.9 i had abit of a chuckle outta that 1 but it just goes to show all that knowlege this fine young man is supporting.

Ok 1 more ' will a stroked 331 fit in a mazda miata' he insisted that it won't fit but i told him that it would fit and actually lines up pretty good .

I believe the actual displacement of the 351 is 5.79 or something relatively close enough to be rounded up to 5.8 liters. There is definitely skill needed both for track and strip. Exactly why one person can get a great 60 foot time in a car and then have a different driver rip off a terrible one in the same car. If it was so easy there wouldnt be any famous drag racers because everyone would be able to do it. As far as the Miata, theres videos all over youtube of a miata with a cobra motor as well as many other v8 configurations. Does this person realize a 331 is no different dimension wise as a 302?

Amen to that.

you babies still hanging out at the dragstrip.........sheesh*breaks out pampers*

j/k i cant launch to save my life, I need to purchase the driver mod and have that installed.

It takes multiple babies to drag race. One to steer, one to shift, one to work the clutch, and one to sit on the gas pedal. If you're dealing with an automatic, of course, you could use a rather lazy baby and just wedge him against the accelerator, though. :nice:

Getting them to stop at the right time, however, is still a technical difficulty I haven't quite worked out, yet. All of the babies I've sent down the 1/4 mile end up doing a re-creation of T-Bird's demise in "The Crow," as I just reach in through the window and yank the gearshift into Drive to send them on their way. :D

HILARIOUS! Thanks!

I'm a drag racer...

Road course and the like takes more skill...

Drag Racing is easy, but to be the best isn't. Just going to a test and tune, doesn't get much easier than that.

Agreed. I prefer drag racing by a long shot, but road course definitely takes more skill. Go to any street night and you'll see countless popped collar, sideways hat douchebags with no clue how to drive standard running their SRT-4s and Cobalts. It doesn't take much skill at all to drive down a straight track with your foot on the floor. Now making any given car go as fast as it can possibly go through the 1/4 mile takes some skill. Or driving a car that's fast enough to actually have a hard time going straight when you're trying to go straight.

IMHO I think guys that are like that say that because there car doesnt have the hp and torque to acually beat someone straight up. SO they try to out drive them on the track. yeah the track takes more skill than drag racing BUT drag racing is all out everything your car has performance wise and track is everything YOU have driving skill wise. If you are faster on the track doesnt mean that you are faster just a better track driver. IMO I like to see whose car is faster. Comparing cars are more fun than comparing drivers I think...conclusion DRAG>TRACK

drag racing is for babies! You hear a lot of whining comming from the car and last time I checked there were alot of bottles in some of the cars.
:lol:Could not have said it better :nice:

Yea true that ' the thing with track is somthing everyone needs is a great suspention and without that someones gonna fail going around the turn'
+ driver skills . i think its all about building your machine and knowing how it works and things comming together with the feel of the Pedals at your feet.

gotta love em both but i prefure drag' the tire smoke kinda drag.:D

I would MUCH rather compare driver ability... A car is just a mechanical thing thrown together, the loose nut behind the wheel can make it something good or bad. A great driver taking a slower car to fast times is better to me than a guy who spends every paycheck on the next go fast part, runs fast as can be, but is just average for whats done to it, and doesn't drive it to its potential.
