Which heads and intake would work well with my cam Crane 2031?

Hey guys, I'm still pondering the possibility of moving up to a better set of heads and intake in the future vs. going the vortech blower route. I currently have a Crane 2031 cam with the stock cobra heads and intake with no port work. Is there a brand of heads that will work better with my cam than others? Will I be able to reuse my cobra 1.7 rockers with a different set of heads or will I have to change? Thanks

You should start with the heads and make the cam work for them. Why have a $120 dollar part dictate what $1400 part you should buy?

You'll have to check piston to valve clearance no matter what you do. I'd guess that a set of Twisted Wedge heads would swap right on.

I was planning on going with a 6-8 psi blower in the future, upgrading the fuel system, and then just being done with it. That's why I wasn't concerned with the head choice. I knew this cam works well with blown applications. That's why I chose it.

I know and completely understand why your saying "why make a $1400 part work around a $120 part", but it's beyond that fact right now. I don't want to swap in another cam. I was just wondering if any heads would work better than others for my particular application.

Generally speaking ... you want parts that would be most effective and
work well together.

However ... when you force the mix ... it is not as critical as when all you got
working for you is the pressure of mother nature.

Seems like I remember WhiteDevil used a 2031 cam with his NA combo.

I wanna say he was using Edel heads but I forget his choice of intake.

I remember he was right at 300 to the wheels but for more details, I
guess you will have to search out the facts

Thanks Grady, I know there are some good combos out there with this cam. Apparently no one read my second comment about knowing not to chose a cam before heads. You guys aren't telling me anything I don't already know, but thanks for repeating it over and over again.:nonono:

Buy my AFR 165's with upgraded valve springs for $1,000. I've also got a Eddy Performer intake gasket matched to those heads with a 70mm TB. Let me know if you are interested.

My car with these heads and intake made 328rwhp/337rwtq N/A on a set of UNCUT stock pistons and on a 100 shot made 404rwhp/444rwtq. With 8psi of boost I made 480rwhp/507rwtq. All these numbers were on these heads and intake with no other mods done (except given a cam, but duh).

If you don't mind me asking, why are you selling? What cam did you run? I'm guessing custom with those kind of #'s.
