Everybody in....debate

Honestly, your friend is simply ignorant.

First off, I don't give a rats ass what people think of me or my car....and honestly, that includes everybody here. It's my car, end of story.

Secondly, anybody who is into cars should know that it takes a lot of money...and especially a lot of time and hard work, to make our cars what they are.

There is nothing "cheap" or "poor" about owning and building a car that runs 13s and faster......I would love to see someone use the word "cheap" or "poor" to any of the guys on here running 10s in a streetable car.

this is the first time that i have ever heard of someone griping that a car is too cheap. shouldnt that say something about the mindset of this guy?

if spending stupid amounts of money is what he wants, let him. maybe its just me, but i rarely look twice at vettes, nsx's are somehow becoming more common around here, and 350Z's are lame to me. maybe its cool to see a viper around once in awhile, and occasionally ill exclaim "whoa, a ferrari!" but the last time i saw a ferrari, i pulled up next to him at a light and said "nice car" and he gave me a look like "why are you even talking to me"

just because you have money to spend on whatever expensive car makes you feel like your pee pee grows every time you get into it doesnt make you 'somebody'

this doesnt seem like the type of person who will appreciate a fox body for what it is. not flaming, just doesnt fit the profile at all.

Wow, looks like everyone is on the same page, as I knew we would be.

We have had some people with some of the nicest cars step in this thread. I'm glad we are all proud of what we drive daily, or on the weekends, regardless of what people think!!

What we think is all that matters.

I also want to add that I get more attention, and get asked more questions when I'm with either notchback vs. my supercharged Cobra. And I have more money in my Cobra than both notches combined.

im a ford guy and have been for life, but i am NOT a mustang guy. i think i like my fox so much because its the only type of mustang that isnt a chick or old man car. i love that i can pull into a gas station between a 17 year old girl in a 96 6 cylinder and a 80 year old guy in a 66 289 convertable, and they'll both be like "wtf is this obnoxiously loud thing that is choking me with the smell of gas?" On top of that, then pull out of the gas station and tear apart the 50 year old midlife crisis ******* in his $50,000 GT500 with my $5,000 POS foxbody. and the whole time look like an escort on steroids.

FOXBODY FTW

Ever wonder though if that girl in her V6 might have a Fox 5.0 lurking in her garage?

I drive a V6 Mustang daily but I also have 2 5.0 Foxes. :nice:

Never judge a book by it's cover. :D

I honestly think your friend thinks that they are cheap cars. He isn't exactly wrong but if you add up the number of receipts that most of us have accumulated I think he would be supprised. If he is that superficial and conserned about his image, he should save up for something else. It also sounds as though he wouldn't put much if any of the wrench time in. The fox is an enthusiast car these days and it does take one owner to the next to truly appreciate any work done to these things. He should move on and get a vett or a new camero when it comes out.

Ever think that 17 year old girl, well, nevermind, she's underage for me. But if she's of age for you, ever think she would like to go for a ride in you fox? Then possibly dinner? :D

This is an interesting topic. Being a car guy who can do everything but body and paint, I can take a look a someones car and tell if they are a car guy or not. Plus you can look at the car and tell if they take care of it or not.

I'm not talking about top of the line parts, new paint, etc. If you see a fox with older paint, junkyard parts, but is real clean and runs strong. I instantly respect the owner and the car. But if I see a car with wires hanging everywhere, trash in the back seat, hadn't been washed in months, etc. You really don't respect the car or the owner.

If someone can honestly look at wythor's, mansonozz, and mustang25th's cars and tell me, "Redneck and his mustang....yada yada." That is someone who doesn't get "it" and never will. Those are the people whose opinions do not matter to me.

Agreed - I have alot of respect for someone who does there own work, and makes something nice and clean out of it. To me the speed, and the top of the line go fast goodies aren't what it's all REALLY about. Its about building something you can be proud of. Something that makes YOU happy..

this thread has really made me really miss not owning a fox. Hopefully i'll be looking for a project by the end of the summer and i had been toying with going sn-95... OR trying to pull off my very own "Hack Job".. or fix up a busted up GT, or your general 4>8 5.0 swap... i think though that the sn-95 route is looking grimmer and grimmer as there is nothing like a good old fox. :)

I'm able to drive around a lot of the "status" cars quite often (Porsches, Ferraris, BMW Dinnan M5s, BMW 650s, Escalades) and not one of those cars gets as many compliments as my Stang does. There is just something about a nice 5.0 thats gets people's attention.

Your friend doesn't need a Stang because it sounds like all he is into is a "status" ride. Tell him to go lease a BMW.
