How long is to long??

The engine in my car has been sitting inside my car in a shop for the last 15 years. It only had about 300 miles on it when it was parked due to a engine compartment fire. (stuck float) I have manually turned it over several times a year with no sticking issues.

My question is should I freshen up the bearings, rings etc. Do I need to pull it all apart and inspect or should it be good.

I'd just prime the oiling system and try starting the engine. Treat it like you're starting it after a fresh engine rebuild.

The engine may end needing some work, but maybe not. Depends on what the conditions were like in your garage. Wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be perfectly fine.

Ditto, prime the motor with a drill on the oil pump shaft and fire it off. You might also first remove the spark plugs, pour a whole quart of automatic trans fluid into the cylinders thru the plug holes, then manually rotate the crank thru about 10 complete revolutions. When that's done, prime the oilpump with the drill then hit the starter and rotate it for a few seconds to clear the ATF from the cylinders (gonna be messy) Then replace the spark plugs and fire it off. I did this on two 390's that had sat for 7-8 years aech. Both ran like a champ once the smoke from the ATF cleared.

Kind of what I was thinking, my dad said to do the same but with marvel mystery oil. I think either will work. Just wanted to get some more insight from others. Thanks guys.

Yea, Marvel oil will do it too, the ATF is cheaper though.
