It happens when I tap the gas at a stop or low rpm. it’s a clunk sound . Now heres the odd part I only noticed it after installing a gaterback s belt(I am a tech so I defiantly got it on right and there was no play in any of the pullies) and it only happens when moving not when pressing the gas in p t’s an automatic car. Anyone know what this could be??? its a 02 gt auto 73000

is it a clack clack sound that keeps up with your speed? so as you accelerate it speeds up?

It is probably your AC Compressor clutch where the clutch plate has lost one of the three connectors that keeps it on the pulley

i check the ac comp and it works good . its more of a snap clank that only happens when i hit the gas not at idle or anytime else also i noticed that the idleer pullie was smooth but now after the gaterback belt its like if it was sanded down

yeah the good year gatorback belt will do that it did it to all of my pulleys even my powdercoated steeda underdrive ones. if it is not the AC Clutch and it only happens uppon acceleration I don't know of an accessory that would do that. will it do it if you have it in nutral/ park and rev it from the throttle?

the odd thing is that it alsmost sounds like when it happens the egine sucks in more air? could it be spark knock i am running 87 with a stock tune(i think) ... or could it be trany related?

i toke the gateback off and put the old motorcraft but before i did i check the pullies all are good but the powerstering one has a little back and fornt play is this normal or is my power steering bad(it was just a lilttle play ) going for a ride to see if its still there
