Chin Spoiler - Air Dam

After I had my car off the ground rotating the tires and changing the oil, I've discovered the previous owner of my 'Stang was or still is an idiot. Under the bumper is numerous scratches and the chin spoiler is broke in three different places. I was missing a few of those quick fasteners, which Auto Zone had readily available in stock. Under the bumper is numerous scratches, which I will have to dress up later with House Of Color paint in an aerosol can.

My problem is this; the Ford dealerships want 45.00 bucks for the stock replacement, plus tax. No junk yard has a S197 with a good front end, it appears when you total one, you run into objects such as other cars or in one case that I saw a tree about seven foot in diameter.

I wouldn't mind paying 45 bucks if it was cool(er) looking or made out of billet aluminum. But for a piece of 1" x .75" plastic that is blow molded and cranked out by the hundreds or thousands everyday is ridiculous. Any thoughts on to where to turn for a replacement?

Yeah, its stock. The chin spoiler or "air dam" is located directly under the front bumper, held on by a half a dozen push in clips. All the (stock) ones I've seen are black. Its what hits first on a curb in a parking spot, which is quite evident that happened with the first owner...repeatedly.

I'm thinking about taking mine off altogether, I really dont see the purpose of it...Looks like a cheap piece of crap and is NOT worth $45 IMO.

Its meant to give some stiffness to the bottom edge on the ft bumper cover and to direct the air flow under the car ..... to whatever degree possible.

btw, CDC makes one for the V6 that you can find for about $200 - that has a bit more style ,,,,

Aftermarket ftw.

However, I opted for the Fang Performance chin spoiler for around the same price (199) as the CDC option.
