I'm ditching the converters on a 2007 gt mustang, And a 2007 gt500. This being a first exhaust job involving knocking off the converters on a 2005 and up mustang, they have a diablo programmer that says it can turn off the " downstream " o2 sensors and " should run fine " no check engine light, Low fuel millage , loss of power, ect. so can I knock off the converters, download the program, weld everything up and off they go? one more is the sensor that is in the converter will that be a problem with the converters missing? If you're going to be dropping the coin on a tuner than you need to do it right the first time. Get a "custom tuned" Xcal3 from a place like VMP Tuning. The tunes will have the rear 02 sensors turned off so it won't matter if there are cats there or not. So you'll be good there.

one ofe the noticable pitfalls in removing the cats is a raspy or trumpeting sound from the mufflers, some people install resonators to remove the sound.

the resonators can be installed right after the X or H pipe you install to remove the cats. just cut the over the axle pipes back to the proper length and weld the rear of the resonators. you will love the sound.

Ok sounds good. From what the Diablo programer shows me that you have the option to "turn off" the down stream o2 sensors by slecting that before you upload the tune. The Diablo programer has a "factory performance tune" or you can take that tune and "modifie" the settings form Diablo. Also The guy I talked at Diablo said that I can tell them the make, modle, ect, whats been done to the car headers ,supercharger, ect and the will write a "custom tune for your car. Them send it via E-mail get a cable, radio shack has it by the way. and you upload it from you computer. he aslo said that converters shouldn't be removed blah blah blah. and didn't give any info on ditching the cats.
