351 under stock hood

Hey 86bluecobra, how do you like that xe274 cam? ive got that one and im second guessing it for the xe 282. i like my power down low in the rpm band . love torque not rpm"s.....

This cam is awesome. As stated though i have a 351w not a stroked version an i am running a dual plane intake. I talk to a custom cam shop and for my combo he said he couldn't do much better then the cam i have. I chose the XE 274 because it was close to the specs on some nitrous cams and i wanted to get all i could from the juice but not sacrifice N/A power. My car pulls. I actually am surprised how it pulls in fifth gear. So are most of my passengers. I originally installed the XE 268 in my car but stepped it up to the 274. I had thoughts about the 282 but that cam would have drastically dropped my low end torque so i didn't do it. As you have a 393 already making gobs of torque so that 282 cam maynot effect your Windsor as much as it would mine.

Hey guys, finally got the 351 (393) with the spider intake under the stock hood. VRISTANG. here is what it took. i got the stock 93 convertable ford motor mounts and had a upper intake fabricated 400.00. i know the price is close to getting a new hood but after looking into it it really is cheaper staying with the stock hood. the paint guy wanted 200.00 and could not gaurantee a proper match of the paint color so i figured 400.00 is better than 700.00 and i really like the stock look (sleeper). the fabricated upper probably does not flow as well as the elbow that came with the coast high spider kit but i cant tell the difference. i think the fabricated piece looks better anyway. and that xe274 cam really does pull. wow. just ask the c6 vette i smoked just outside my local 7-11. anyways the little things i had to get the 351 in the engine bay were trim the battery tray.and cut the original throttle cable bracket. all pretty easy stuff.

Since this thread came up, I have decided to run a spyder as well...
it will be a few months, as I need to put the motor back together first.

*I think you know this question is coming....*
Got any pics of that intake?

Congrats on getting things setup up the way you wanted :nice:
