edelbrock heads??

i have stock 289 heads on my new 347 stroker engine with a 11.5 : 1 compression ratio but i have a feeling its having breathing issues and i was thinking of getting some victor jr. aluminum cylinder heads.....does that sound like a good idea????

If all he's done is stroke it out and its otherwise stock and he has no plans to go further... or if its a mildly modded engine he'd probably be better with Performer rpms, afr 165s/185s, Trick Flows, etc.

If its a moderately modded engine (aggressive single plane, more extravagant cam, etc) then Vic Jrs make more sense.

But theres no doubt your heads are impeding your setup and damn near any aftermarket head will offer him some substantial gains.

it depends on how much cam you have. even with the 347, if you have a mild cam i suggest the performer rpm heads instead. if you have a cam with more than .500 lift though, then the victor jr heads are the way to go. as for the winsor jr heads, i dont recommend them on a 347. the windsor sr heads are the better ones to use.

There is also valve to piston clearance issues. If you have to and don't mind fly cutting the pistons in place you can choose any of the above heads. The twisted wedge heads can be used without notching the pistons.
