? For anyone that knows aftermarket alarms

For the life of me I cannot figure this out. I wired my entire alarm in over the winter works great w/ the exception of the trunk trigger wire. Instructions tell me I need a neg trigger. The only thing I can find on the car for a trunk trigger is the black/pink wire...I looked at some diagrams and I think this is a + trigger. So I used a relay and converted the + output of this wire (black/pink) to a - and the trunk trigger still doesn't work right and I can't understand it. I'm thinking w/ the relay it should work correctly. If I connect the trunk trigger wires and arm the system it won't arm b/c it thinks there is an open zone (ie the trunk is open) although it is indeed closed. It's a pretty minor thing but there must be a way to get this working. :shrug:

YOu're talking about the wire for the zone sensing and not the trunk popper, right? There's no selectability in the alarm wiring or switches to allow the polarity to be reversed?

For the zone sensing, you might find it easiest to simply add your own trigger (mercury tilt or a pin switch).

What voltage or resistance does your relay's output (normally Closed terminal) read when the trunk is closed?
 
it's been a while since i've messed with alarms so bare with me.

to me it sounds like that blk/pnk wire is the trigger wire going to the trunk switch and not to the trunk solenoid. so the trigger from the alarm is reaching the trunk button and thats its.
i alway like to use the trunk wire from the alarm as the trigger to a relay to send whatever the trunk popper needs to open. does that make sense?
so if the trunk wire from your alarm sends a - i hook that up to the relay with a constant + on the other side and then hook up either - or + to go through the realy depends on what pops the trunk
 
You definitely want to use the purple/yellow wire at the switch in the glove box. Depending on the type of alarm, you might need to switch the polarity of the signal with a relay. The purple/yellow wire is triggered with 12v+.

If the alarm you are using doesn't have a dedicated trunk channel, then just use one of the auxiliary channels.

He's talking about the Blk/Pink wire, which is for the trunk pin/light (not the trunk release) as I recall.
 
yea guys, I can open/pop the trunk w/ the alarm....but the problem is I can't get the trunk pin to work correctly this telling the alarm whether the trunk is opened or closed. So when I pop the trunk the alarm will not disarm b/c it does not know if the trunk is open. There is no option to allow me to reverse the polarity within the alarm. Is a mercury tilt/pin switch a - trigger?

I have a grey wire (from alarm) hooked into the purple/yellow to pop the trunk and the blue wire (from alarm) into the black/pink for the trunk pin. My trunk pops as it should but the pin that tells the alarm whether the trunk is open/closed does not.
 
I believe your issue could be that the trunk has to be completely up in order for the trunk light to illuminate (and the pin circuit to go active). That's how my car is anyhow. You could try popping the trunk and then opening it all the way (as a test), then disarming, to see if this hypothesis is correct.

A mercury tilt switches whatever you choose it to. If you ground the other lead on the switch, it will switch ground. A little pin switch would work as well.
