Sell it and buy an aero.

+1

i would but the car is worth more then what everyone is wanting to pay

It will be worth even less if you convert it.

Sorry for the unhelpful response, but we see a lot of requests like this, and the general consensus is that people regret it after they finish the conversion. Aero cars are just too easy to find and 4 eye cars are getting rarer and rarer to justify such a swap. What you end up with is a car that isn't really much of either generation (a 4 eye is much more different from a Aero than just a bumper cover), and a TRUE, COMPLETE swap is borderline not worth the effort over just selling and buying a different car. What you'll realize in the end is that the driveline and chassis are much more different than what you think, and you'll run into headaches down the road when trying to modify and upgrade.

That is just my take on it. I'm sure others will chime in.

Oh, and before anyone else brings it up, the infamous "Hack Job" is an exception to the rule.

X1000. Don't do it. I speak from experience too. My Capri was just returned to it's original state.

It's not even just the NOSE you'll need either:

- hood
- cowl vent
- windshield trim
- Rear bumper
- side trim
- quarter windows
- inside quarter panels doors (and since these wont match with the '86 interior, might as well do the WHOLE interior including the dash)
- door trim
- doors (since the holes for the trim will be different)
- door mirrors

That's what you'll need if you want it all to tie together correctly.

Yeah, not worth it.

KEEP IT FOUR EYE. :fuss:

Do not chop the roof off of your hatch and try to weld a notch roof to it. That is just silly, silly, silly nonsense.

Buy the car you want from the beginning.

well pretty soon the 109 people in america who think the 4 eye is sweet will own them and they wont be worth anything b/c there will be no market.

but turning a hatch into a coupe you must be smoking pretty good stuff....

It's a hatch?

Yea, I just realized that too...

Regardless if you like the 4-eye style or not, there isn't much sense in converting one, IMHO.

Oh and it must be pretty strong stuff... Did you see the pictures he posted to try and sell the thing? :p

No offense, Mr. OP.
