Here is the vid I wanted to upload a long while back. The vid is of me getting on it a little from a turn onto a main road. This is just what the exhaust sounds like with no muffler, no tailpipe and no extention pipe. Coming straight out of the Y-Pipe. Not real fancy if you ask me. The vid is dated back in 2004 sometime. It's all I could find, but I thought I would post it up just to give you an idea of what it sounds like.... if you haven't heard it yet. I had cats back then. as of the past 2 years, my cats have been blown out so it sounds better IMO. but would sound much better if I cut the end of the Y section , making it dual. I'll toss in another vid of what it sounds like now, later.

Fixed, for now

my car (04 V6), sounded almost like that when I was in the process of installing my exhaust on it....theres something about us that tempts us to run the vehicle without an exhaust LOL.....the cool thing about it is that it doesnt backfire

Trying to get my facts straight here. Now that I just pulled the muffler and ext. pipe off, it sounds totally different than it does in that vid. That's either because the cats are blown out, or lack of ext pipe. Either way, right now, it's hella loud when I really step on it. I also ran into some issues with the Y-pipe. I won't be able to cut it in the passenger side and leave enough room to attach another piece of pipe. The dumb downstream O2 bung is nearly right just before it 45's into the Y section, ( look at the letter "Y", and the bung is at the very top right corner :damnit: ) so the bung would prevent me from attaching any pipe sections. I guess I'll have to try and find a GT takeoff exhaust. Question, does everything from a GT exhaust fit right? Like say the exhaust hooks on the crossmember and the header flanges?

I ran my exhaust from the front two cats to a stock gt h section deleting the rear cats. I had a stock 94-97gt cat back installed to it. You need the gt hangers for the tailpipes & the passenger side muffler bracket. The guy @ the muffler shop made my flow tubes longer so I wouldn't have to extend the rear o2 harness. The rear o2 bungs where in the gt h section I used. I can remove the h-pipe by unbolting it like a v8 car. The headers on a v6 are pointing different than the v8's. The mid pipes & cat backs are the same all the way up until you get to the headers.

You're saying that since the headers are pointing in a different direction, that the pipe has to be cut just after the front cats where it straightens out? And the pipehas to be cut on the GT exhaust and then clamped or welded to where it was cut off on the V6 pipe? Sorry, I'm a little confused. Can you take some pics and post them? I would like to see exactly how its setup. Mainly near the front cats and the midpipe near the crossmember.

Did you pick one up at a salvage yard? I'm curious if they would have any lying aroung or if they are left on the car and get crushed. Thanks for the rep.

I had my exhaust cut behind the front two converters as close as possible. Then ran new pipe & weld it to an H section from a GT. I only used the H because I wanted to be able to remove the h-pipe if needed. Alot of guys are cutting of the h section & selling the cats while the price of them are high. Basically my H-pipe looks like one from a stock 86-93 5.0 minus the rear cats. The only difference is my mid pipe is shorter than most. It was cheaper to lengthen my flow tubes than to go by o2 extenders for the back ones. I'll try & get some pics for you.

Here is what i did for dual exhaust. Look on craigslist for a cheap GT takeoff setup then go to pronto muffler or any exhaust shop and tell them to weld it on and cut the y pipe and make an H pipe to fit the new exhaust. they will know. i got charged like 120$ for the installation if i remember right and i bought the gt takeoff's for 60 bucks. 180$ for dual exhaust....easy.and i love the look and sound of it.

and the shop will be done in like 15 minutes...
