alright, thanks for clearing that up. now i'm leaning towards pulling my shafts and having them filled and redrilled for 5 lug. all i'm looking to do is run 5 lug wheels, is this a safe way to do it? i'm going with discbrakeswap.com front 5 lug swap. also, the pattern i want is 5x4.5 correct?
if you want to change the lug number then just buy an 8 or 9 inch. your getting way better value cause they are stronger probably cheaper than redoing just the axles to fit your 6cyl and you dont need to do any axle swapping. 5x4.5 is the size you want.

you can redrill the axles, and the drums, to a 5x4.5 bolt pattern, but why go through all that when you can grab an 8" rear end from a granada, or find someone in your area that has swapped a 9" into their stang, and pick up the rear end for about the same money as you would spend redrilling the axle flanges and drums, and you get a stronger rear end to boot.
