I have owned many built Fox cars and just recently bought a '95 GT with the Trick Flow top end kit (heads, cam, intake ect.) with 24# injectors ect.... The problem I have is: the car stahls sometimes and doesn't always start first try. I remember Abuddy that built a 393 with his 95 and he did a PIH conversion. What should I do to get the most out of what I have. The Transmission is a AODE w/ 2800 stahl converter. Thanks

Get it tuned or tune it yourself with your choice of self tuning device. If you do a search you'll see tons of posts from people with the same exact issue and what they had to do to get it right. You can swap in a Fox computer with a PIH kit, however all it's going to do is restore your idle quality, it will in no way, shape or form optimize your combo like a dyno tune will, also it will probably cost the same as a dyno tune as well!

Good luck.

If you have a GT, and put in 24lb injectors you are gonna need a retune. Even with a matching MAF the calibration may not be good enough which can easily cause your problems.

Get your computer tuned. If you can't/dont want to do it yourself, take it to someone who can. Dont resort to putting the old fox computer in because to get "the most of" what you have, you will need a tune either way. And a tuned 94-95 computer is just as good as a tuned fox computer. Its just in stock form, the fox computer is more forgiving.

Don't forget that you'd need to take extra steps to get the trans running properly if you did the swap.

I have looked at aftermarket tuners and they are expensive! Such as anderson tweecer ect.. the car was factory equipped with the aode. Thanks for the replies. The pih harness with the a9l may not be the way to go with the auto trans sounds like....

Tweecer doesn't hold a candle to PMS for the most part. I dont care what anybody says the 94/95 computers SUCK. :notnice: Every professional tuner I have ever been to agrees and they also tell me it puts out less rwhp than any other puter they have tuned. Mine has fought me the whole way. It always stalled with the tweecer on it and even when I upgraded to PMS, it tries to adapt and it has taken me forever to get the pop out of it at 2200RPM. The new cam I put in help a little.

So basically, what is the best route? are any of you running the 94/95 computer with a tuner, chip or custom tune??? OR are you running a different setup? Please give me a call 517 204 5826. Thanks!

Where are you located? for your car?....Grady on here has done fine with the tweecer with a 302 h/c/i and can offer some great help. It didnt work for me on my 306 but it ran fine with an SCT chip and tune.

Tweecer route will be at least $800 and a learning curve but you can make changes later..you would probably want to get a dyno as well for another $250. So that's over $1000. SCT will run you $350 plus prolly.. $250 for the dyno tune...set it and forget it. If you dont change anything later, its the cheapest route. The 94/95 puter will respond fine after these steps with h/c/i ..when you get into my setup, not so good without more work.

I'm in Knoxville, Tn. I just moved here from Michigan. Learnig curve is right! A bit different from the good 'ol Fox A9l. "bolt it and Go" What a pain in the Stang. I as of right now don't plan on changing the set up. Later it will be a 331 and possibly a Vortech. But for now, I just need to get this thing right for the setup it has.

I'm running an AEM-EMS stand-alone. Again pricey, but can be had used for about $800. As with any tuning option you either have it done or learn to do it yourself.

PLEASE stop blaming the computer. It is not the computers fault. :notnice:

I dont care what professional tuner says what....take a look at any group of guys that self tune, the computers perform JUST FINE.

The quarterhorse beats both those options, but it is just as "technical" as the tweecer.

Also, you dont need the dynotune to get what the OP seems to want out of the car. A wideband and a way to tune it will be more than enough. I have even tuned my h/c/i 302 and a 351 with a PMS WITHOUT a wideband. A wideband truly makes it as easy as 1,2,3 (with the PMS that is).

And you'll be ahead of those "drop in and run it" foxs.

And I wanted to add that if you shop around for an SCT chip, you can save hundreds, and most dyno shops will only charge around 200 bucks to tune a car that already has a chip. I know because that's exactly what I did. I purchased a chip used on Corral for 135 bucks shipped, then took it to HP-Performance, where the tuner there had absolutely ZERO issues tuning my S/C'd stock-longblock'd 95 GT, not only that, he was able to get 425 HP out of it and make it drive like stock. So I am def. a believer in what these computers can do!

NM :dead: However, I agree with the used chip idea. :nice: Then go get your tune using the dyno shop's wideband and get the best of both worlds for less. Great ideas.

BTW, forgot to add. If you can get the tweecer to work, it's nice having control. Another option would be to buy the old style tweecer for like $250 or maybe less without a wideband and then finding a shop that will tune that..if you can find one. My issue was the tweecer would never seat right onto the stock computer. I even lightly sanded the terminals. It would just shut off or not start at random. Seems to be a rare occurrence tho. And remember, a h/c/i 302, the 94/95 computer is going to be less a pain than my n/a 414.

hey what's up! new here, but i've got an anderson ford pms that i'm trying to get rid of. put it on my car and drove it 800 miles before taking it off. i bought a fast xfi system and switched from an aode to an aod with manual valvebody. that's the only reason i took it off. 94-95 models are bad about big changes to the motor, computer tuning is the only way to fix your problem. if interested in the pms, drop me a line. pms with 3 bar map
