Guys/Gals:
Have a couple of easy questions that I need to get accurate answers on that I am sure you all can answer for me:

Just purchased new 18 x 10 and 18 x 9 rims for my 1996 cobra. Will be installing 265/35/18 tires on the front and 295/35/18 tires on the rear.

1. Will I have any clearance or steering issues with this size tire and rim on the front of my 96 cobra?

2. Will the speedmoter still be accurate with the increase in rim size on my vehicle? If not, what will I need to do to get it accurate?

3. Is this the correct sizing that i should be going with for front tires? Should it be 35 or 40 for front?

Thank you in advance for answering these questions.

I will post pictures with new rims and tires as soon as they are mounted on vehicle in the next month.

Pretty sure the 265/35-18 is the right size for the front. Not sure if a 265/40-18 would fit with out rubbing.

The original tire size is 245/45-17 which has an out side diameter of 25.7". The 295/35-18's on the back will have a diameter of about 26.1". This is about 1.6% larger than the stock size your speedometer is calibrated for. Probably not a big deal. Just be aware that you'll be going slightly faster than what your speedometer reads. For example if your speedometer says 100, you'll actually be going 101.6 mph, if your speedometer says 60, you'll actually be going about 61 mph. Etc.. Not sure how to adjust your speedometer, I've never done it.

As far as steering and handling. I have 265/35-18's all the way around on my '98 Cobra. Expect to feel the road more, wheels and tires may tend to track and pull to uneven road contours more than the stock 17's.

Hope that helps.

if you google "tire calculator" the first webpage will be a miata website, it has a great tire tool. Tells you diameter and revolutions when you change tire sizes. Should help with all your tire rim change questions.
