Ok, new motor, trans, etc.
New Mallory magnetic dist. (keeping "pink" resistor wire)
Started the car for break in, etc. with a remote starter button.
Car starts and runs fine with remote button.
will not start with key, turns over all day, won't start.
I assume there is some issue with the pink wire, and that is causing my issue, any ideas? I was thinking of trying to start it with a meter on the connection to the ignition, to see if the resistor wire is causing it to be too weak, does this sound like a good test, or could it send me on a wild goose chase?

My goodness, it's Tim McCain. How ya doin buddy?

My guess is you are not getting 12v in the run position, but you didn't indicate if it is trying to start while cranking (like the old ballast resistor failures) or if it is just cranking. I would check voltages and go from there.

I'm good! Finishing up this 66 Convertible to be my daily driver.....
I am going to check voltage while cranking, that should tell me what exactly is going on. It doesn;t even try to start with the key, it just spins over, so that is probably the issue. Now I just have to figure out how to fix it...
