Buy a used S197 GT or a NEW V6????

I was in the same boat as you in August, I wanted to choose either a brand new 2011 V6 or an older GT. Now, if you like the look of the 2010-2011, you should get the 2011 V6, since you get the best of both worlds. Equivalent power, fuel economy, looks, etc...

I instead found a great 2008 GT/CS in Grabber Orange for much cheaper(GTs typically have the bells and whitles such as leather seats). Since I prefer the look of the 2005-2009 versus the new model and I love the color.

I wanted a drive around car that looked great, also the sound of a V8 is just amazing and a GT is always an icon, not to bash the V6 but the 2005-2010 were so bad for performance that it tarnishes the brand a bit.

Hopes this helps

I dunno....the '94-'98 V6 was probably the worst performer out of all of them. How about the '87-93 2.3L I-4....or the 115hp 3.8L V6 models before that.

I'd think besides the latest 3.7L TiVCT, the previous '05-'10's were the best of the base model offereings.

lol hey now leave the 2.3 out of this i will take a turbo svo or non mustang but turbo chicken anyday. though without that all important turbo yeah they're nothing special. but dear god the 3.8s were bad. drove my friends one day and i thought i screwed something up then he got in and i asked. lol in his words " no its fine just really really slow." :rlaugh:

thats really irrelevant since im mainly talking about the duratec motors.

i thought the 5.0 was all revised and stuff, oh well. in any case, the evolutionary thing still applies. i wasn't knocking the 4.6 at all, of course it has tons of performance potential but for every ten thousand kids on the internet that parrot that maybe one guy actually explores that potential.

The 5.0 was designed to be able to be manufactured on the same machines as the 4.6. Hence the Cylinder spacing and many other dimensions are identical. The 5.0 has the same bell housing bolt up and motor mounts as the 4.6. A 5.0 Coyote should be able to basically bolt into an 05-10 car with only minor supporting tweeks. At least that is what I gather from my studies. I think of the 5.0 as being an incremental improvement in design not some radical departure. I am still waiting for all the early adopters to wrung out the bugs. From what I have been reading the new design has not been without.

imo its not worth it. you'll get worse mpg, an engine that requires more maintenance, a tranny that isn't as good, and a car that doesn't handle as good for the same price as a V6.

they would have to take off much more than it would be worth to them for it to be worth it to me (and most guys that are diggin the 30mpg 13 second mustang idea).

Let's see. Get the new body style, a tried and true motor that has more room to grow than the new V6, a transmission that isn't made in China, and you're not driving a chick car.
You can get 2010 GT premiums for dirt cheap. I got mine for ~$27.5K OTD
