Where should I go next with my '04 GT?

Agreed. He also cuts back the intake valve to work with more aggressive intake centerlines which is awesome. Unfortunately for the OP this is too much if he's already having reservations about installing cams. I am trying desperately to have enough money by spring to buy a set of his ported stage 2 heads and 2P cams

I'm a little ignorant to this stuff but I am taking classes about it right now. So let me ask you... instead of the heads and cams you are buying, couldn't you go to 4v heads and cams or is there more expense involved? I'm researching doing different cams, valves, springs, pistons and rods but I'm just learning.

I started a blue print for my engine but can't do the inside measurements just yet but have stock specs.

I probably could, but performance would suffer. 4V heads for example have larger combustion chambers so my C/R would actually drop if I kept my NPI short block stock and swapped to 4V heads. With the MHS stage 2 PI heads and 2P cams, the c/r should bump up to around 10.5:1 and with a tune I would likely exceed 300 RWHP with solid midrange torque and very little, if any, torque lost down low.

Keeping in mind that the heads, cams and a tune will run around $2200, I don't think I could make even close to the same power using 4V heads and a budget of only $2200.

4v swap also entails a 4v intake, which also entails a 4v throttle body, linkage, sensors, etc. Also need a 4v timing cover, timing equipment, and so forth. They are good heads, but unless you're getting everything for a very good price, it can get very expensive.

Just a set of cams alone for a 4v are $1200.

Exactly, and without touching the stock NPI short block, there is no way a N/A 4V swap would perform better than installing ported PI heads and a nice set of cams.

Take it from me, save your money up and buy an S/C. I started with all the basic bolt-ons, spent around $2K or so on misc stuff. My car was still slow.

I finally got a Vortech V3 Kit Non-I/C and it's like I got a new car. Had it for almost 2 yrs now and love it!

i need ideas on my stocker 96 gt convertible 100% stock with some 44 flow masters i was thinking of doing a off road x pipe but lost after that

Gears and a PI swap (99-04 heads, cams, and intake) plus a tune.

The X pipe is a good mod as well, but some people like the sound of an h-pipe with Flowmasters better. It's a personal preference.

This was the difference between and O/R X with stock headers and an O/R H with longtubes. Both with a standard magnaflow catback. I like the H better.

I really do want a blower but I'm starting to think it's just going to encourage me to beat on my car, and will take life out of it. Say what you will haha but it's my daily driver and I try to be very gentle with her, except for the occasional fun here and there.

I agree with the sound choice as well.

I was in the same debate, boost vs. nitrous vs. staying NA. I figure you will beat your stang just as much as you always have, with every mod I have had, I have not beat on it more than before.

Despite the fact that the s/c or nitrous would give me more... I went with a set of hitech cams, I wanted a little more fun and I wanted the sound of a cammed stang. I'll add a s/c or nitrous to a future car once I am in a more comfortable position with a daily driver and a toy. But my goals may be different from yours. The s/c is by far the best way to add power if you want it.

I believe I will end up going your route. Have you looked into any issues with adding a blower with that model cam? Just need to find a shop that will install and degree them for a reasonable price.

Hitech has blower cams as well. From everything I have seen it seems that NA cams will still give you gains with a blower. They may not be optimized but they will still net positive. Besides it will be a while till I can afford a second car... have to buy a house first. :)

Good to know!

If you haven't already, I would start working on the suspension, LCA's, SFC's and struts and shocks are a great start before you plan on going FI.

Already got em :) MM subframes, tokico blues, steeda sport springs, steeda cc plates. MM LCAs in the closet waiting to go on.
