im stuck between the two.... I dont wanna spend more than 1k and i dont want the orginal power steering anymore. Which kit should i go with guys?

Man I went with the Unisteer manual rack and I cant be happier. My wife can drive the car in a parking lot with no issue.

I got it from Summit for $775 shipped.

Have you tried swapping the pulley on the PS pump?

I hated the PS in my 67, it floated and had no road feel. I changed the pulley on the pump to slow it down and decrease pressure/increase feel and never looked back.

You can also and much less expensively simply convert to manual steering without putting in a rack or changing the box...you just need to swap out the old center link, idler, and PS stuff

I went with the Borgeson unit. I got the whole kit, including the pump. Installed pretty easy and really cleaned things up. All the parts were included. I had one question and when I called Borgeson they had the answer.

hows the dead spot when doin 60+ mph? on the borg unit?

Answer might depend on what you don't like about the OE PS.

i dont like freeway driving or at the track doing 115 mph trying to keep it straight. It feels real sloppy. Im looking for a feel of a more modern car. Driving around town it's fine, but when you get some speed up it feels like your playing pin ball.. All the suspension is brand new and the alignment is fine. It's just time for an upgrade...

I can't get it to go that fast on the jack stands lol. As soon as I get over the flu, I'll take it down and drive it to the muffler shop. It will be the first time under it's own power in 7 years. It will be a nice ride through town with open headers.

Well, it sounds like your valve isn't tight enough. Another problem with such high speeds is excessive pump speed, which was solved for the 67 GT350 with this pulley:

Wheel alignment for such performance should not be the stock street settings. Shelby specified different settings, and of course you should check the "R Model" specs on this chart:

Great to hear good feedback on the manual unsteer setup. I just installed one in my 69 FB, but have driven it yet. It sure feels tight and precise. This makes me look even more to getting the car finished.
