So I finally got my belt relocated to were I needed it. My question is now without any power or connections on the alternater as when I was testing to see if I got belt squeak I did not get any. Now that I hooked up power to it when I turn it on it squeaks for a few seconds and stops. Is it a bad alternater or do I need a smaller belt?

Probably just needs a hair more tension on the belt. On Alternators as in electric motors, the torque resistance is much higher at low RPM. As soon as it spun up the torque was reduced.
