As the title states, I have a 95 GT Vert with a T5 and stock 3.08 gears. How much difference will I feel going to 3.55 gears? I was thinking 3.73s but read that the T5 is geared different in the 95-95s and with 3.73s, 1st gear would be worthless (like shifting to 2nd at 10-15 mph).

You'll feel a huge difference going to 3.55s or 3.73s. Either gear will work fine, the T-5 is geared the same as any other T-5. Which gear you go with is basically personal preference at this point. Faster cars going for specific quarter mile performance have to be more peticular about gear selection.

I'm pretty sure 94-95 5.0 T-5's have a 3.35 first gear as apposed to the previous years have a 2.95 1st.. I was under the impression that they changed it to help from a dead start because the Sn95's are a bit heavier. maybe I'm wrong. I've got the 393 motor in mine & I went back to 3.27 from the 3.90 that were in it when I bought it because first was way to short for street driving... I would think 3.55 would be about perfect & even if you modded the motor in the future, 3.55 would still be fine, it's a great all around gear.

I'm running 3.73s with my manual. You get plenty of use out of first. I'd highly recommend them!

I'll play devils advocate here....:D

I run 373s with my manual. I find 1st is worthless and have to shift once you hit the other side of the steet. I plan on removing mine and going back to 355s.
Its a matter of taste...I felt the 355s were the best for my driving style... the low end was better as I wasnt short shifting and it still had nice mid/high end pull...plus my MPG was better.

Lol, I'm currently just the opposite.

3.55's are great with a stock geared tranny, but since I switched to a TKO600 with the 2.87 first gear it doesn't have as much umph off the line and want to switch to 3.73
