Every day I hange my mind. Right now I want to invest in my current car. 2002 Laser Red GT. Its already equipped with plenty of suspension and chassis stiffening components, no performance except exhaust. To get thus car where i want it, it will need a rebuild (i want 300-350 NA rwhp). It will need a new hood (previous owner put mach1 style intake on and it leaks all over the engine every time it rains). It needs new paint, i don't like the laser red, i dont know why i bought it. And it needs new wheels and tires, i am not a fan of bullitts. My ex wife sold my 96 cobra so here i am wanting my cobra back, being unhappy with my GT and thinking about 2014 all at the same time. Do i wait fir 2014, do i invest in the 02 and save a mustang from becoming a junker,? What kinda price list do you think I'm looking at with all mentioned? I've tried to put this together a few times, i think i need someone else to show me what's up. Thanks all...sorry its so Li g.

with a repaint, 300-350 N/A RWHP, and wheels/tires you're looking at close to 10 grand and you'd have a car that w/ just so-so performance.

My advice is either accept the fact that your car is red, and buy a KB and a new set of wheels/tires (could be done for 6K if you did your own install). Or sell the f'ing thing and buy a 2005+ cause it already comes with a 260+ RWHP engine, they can be had for relatively little money, are built better, are more roomy, and weigh about the same as the 96-04 GT's. Also they can be upgraded w/ bolt on's to provide around 325 RWHP relatively easily. Otherwise Mach's and 99-01 Cobra's can be found for cheap.

An '02 w/ bullitt wheels some tasteful suspension mods and low miles should easily fetch $8,000+

Considering the fact that you want to repaint it ($4000), build a new 300+ hp N/A engine ($4000+), and want new wheels and tires ($1000+) you're looking at $17-18K. That's damn near enough to buy you a terminator, a really nice 05-09, or a Mach and have enough money left over for some serious mods.

But a problem he might have is that if his car needs to be painted and has some issues other than changes HE would make, then its resale isn't too high and won't help much towards bringing down the bottom line on a Cobra or new GT. I LOVE my laser red 02, it's not the fastest thing by far but its the best thing I have owned and I enjoy driving it everyday,

It does have some paint issues. Its been fender bendered, so it has attempts at blending on both sides. How much do yall think a laser red respray would be? I just enjoy not having a car payment.

I'm guessing you can still sell that thing for some good money. Definitely not worth keeping if you haven't already done too much to it and you for sure want it repainted. Repainting a car is no joke especially if you do a color change which it sounds like you want to do.

I paid my GT off and looked into 03 04 Cobras, 2011 Mustangs, etc etc. I realize that I have no desire to have another car payment lol... I'm gonna just mod the hell out of my paid off GT rather than have a car payment on top of wanting to do thing to it.

It's really up to you though. If you're unhappy, then get rid of the car. I would rather build something up though, especially something I have already paid for.
