Yesterday I went ahead and installed a Kenne Bell supercharger onto my car. Previous mods are as follows, GT40 heads, F cam installed straight up, GT40 lower and SVO Motorsports upper, trickflow drop in springs, aeromotive stealth 340 fuel pump, Summit Shorty Headers, Off road H pipe, and SLP Catback, 42lb injectors are on the shelf waiting for dyno tune day. The install took me around 6 hours, but I ran out of time for the day and had to leave small details for next weekend, such as fabbing up a bracket for the coil, routing the hoses better, soldering in the harness for the ProM Meter and CAI, etc. I picked this up in good used condition, it came with 8lb and 10 lb pullies, 75mm throttlebody, ProM 90mm MAF, CAI, FMU, and gauges. Until I get to tuner hopefully sometime this week or early next the 8lb is staying on. The previous owner said he had trouble with headgaskets blowing out and not being able to get it to idle right. When I took it all apart I found that the gaskets werent trimmed and were blocking a good portion of the entrance, the TPS wasnt set to the right voltage, I found various areas where you could tell it was leaking vacuum, I also junked the stock KB intake elbow(which was smaller than the TB) in favor of a 75mm Trickflow intake elbow that is made for 75mm TB's. I also noticed that the previous install did not have the fuel rail boost referenced, so I went ahead and picked up another fitting to reference that also. I am sure I am missing alot but here are some pictures. I havent taken it past 1/2 throttle while driving because I am worried about blowing up my new engine before the tune, but the car feels astoundingly different, I am very pleased with how this turned out, although the 8lb pulley is only giving me around 6lbs of boost..

Those KB's make gobs of torque down low which will be good for your vert. Good call on taking it easy until the dyno tune, although 6psi isn't that much. You have pretty much the last KB for the pushrod V-8. KB has gone away from us and into the modular World. These KB units are extinct so if you can get a good one out there its probably a good investment.

Yea, I really like it, even at 6lbs it feels strong and I havent even gotten into it yet, after the engine install I really noticed the low end torque missing so this really made up the difference plus a bunch. On the dyno tune I plan to swap to the 10lb pulley, just for now the car is my daily driver so I am playing it safe.

You can play it just as save with the 10lb pulley as you can the 6lb but you're definitely doing it right by getting the tune done before you up the boost.

Save yourself some time and money and go straight for the smallest pulley available for that kit once you've got it tuned.

Well I have been doing some tinkering with it and finally got around to soldering up the wiring for my ProM meter. I decided to look up the part # to verify everything on it because it has the sticker removed and custom calibration for the SC setup by some local tuner shop. Turns out the CAI and ProM 95mm came as a kit for a 03-04 cobra and the 4" CAI tube is ceramic coated inside and out, I figured it was a cheapo, ends up being a top end piece and cost alot of money for the last owner. This buy seems more and more like a bargain the more I find out. Once I finished installing that it started pulling 8lbs of boost and runs 100% better, I felt comfortable to do a couple full throttle pulls and it is alot of fun.

Good choice. I think I may have almost bought that same exact unit. The PO said it kept blowing headgaskets, only reason I didnt buy it is because I found a similar priced KB already with the bypass and flowzilla manifolds. Kid SHOULD be shipping it this weekend. Long story... Anyway, my original plan was to just throw it on and enjoy. Then I said what the hell Ill go with the flowzilla and gt40 lower. Then I said what the hell, Ill get some Gt40 heads. Then I said, what the hell Ill get a nice cam. Then I said what the hell, Ill yank the block out and get it cleaned and machined. Then I said what the hell, I'll throw in some forged rods and pistons.... So now my cars sitting without motor and trans, block is at the machine shop and all kinds of parts are incoming or already here (42#rs, 255lph pump, lightning maf, custom intake). Thats why I decided this is my early winter project. Dont want to rush it. Thinking of self tuning with the quarterhorse, at least to get it running decent. Not sure if the local dyno shop would be thrilled about starting from scratch. One thing Ive been pondering is how Im going to complete the engine break in period if the cars not going to be running so hot with all the changes made.... I guess I could always throw the stock top end back on until shes broken in and then throw the KB, new injectors, etc on to tinker with. A lot to think about, luckily I have plenty of time.

On your build, did you relocate the ACT sensor to the number five runner? Very highly recommended from what Ive heard due to the heat the KB produces. Comp wont know the temp of the air going into the motor, only the temp of the intake tract. I'm thinking of throwing a meth injection kit on just for added insurance.

Love those rims, had them on my 94 too. You need to get those springs on ASAP.

The belt routing is incorrect. The belt should come off the P/S pulley to the KB idler and around the KB snout and then to the Alternator. The original idler isn't used. Your setup invites a lot of slippage. From the picture you can see that the belt is in contact with about 3/4 of the pulley circumference for both the idler and snout. Here's a picture of mine.

Just remembered that you will need a different rad hose for this setup.

An old one before heading to the body shop, and a few at the shop. Its getting all new moldings, weatherstripping, channel runs, dew wipes, tail lights, headlights, rockers, battle boxes, and so many small pieces needed its rediculous, Ive spent more money on buying pieces to make the SVO look nice then I spent on this new engine and kenne bell combined.

Thanks. I used to want mine to be black or to find one that was black but the white slowly grew on me over the last 7 years or so that I have owned it. When I decided it was time to hit the body shop it wasnt so hard of a choice to keep it the stock color. Its actually at a shop in PA, I took it a long way to get a good shop.
