Painting rear bumper

My daughter will be home from college soon and I want to repaint the rear bumper of her 2003 Mustang base. There was an unfortunate incident with a mailbox one morning. I just have a few questions:
1. Is the rear bumper reasonably easy to remove or should I just leave it on? I think I can tape the bumper so that the paint line along the tape will not be obvious.
2. The bumper has Mustang in black letters. Can these letters be removed and then replaced with new ones after the painting? If so, what is the easiest way to remove them and where can I get new letters? Or, should I tape carefully around each letter?

Thank you for the link. I bought a few things for the Mustang from American Muscle a few years ago, but forgot about them. Any tricks for removing the old letters?

I would just use a hairdryer to make them soft then peel them off with your finger nails
