I have a 94 mustang v6 3.8 and I am looking for some more horsepower. I first of all am on my 2nd power steering pump and this one is whining so loud its driving me crazy. I know deleting it would eliminate that problem and give me a power boost.
The next item up on the chopping block is the, AC compressor. It hasnt worked for years. I never use it and haven't used it since I bought 10 years ago. Again I know that it will also give me more horse power.
I know that Ill have to measure the circufrence of the pully's and get a new surpentine belt. But the AC lines make me nervous. Just not sure how to saftley disconnect them and what the are connected to I do NOT want to make the car into something I cant drive on the street. HELP Please.

I put an underdrive pulley on mine, and it slowed the PS pump down and made it a lot quieter.

The AC you might take to a shop and see if it has any pressure left in the system. If it does they can pump the freon out. They might even have to do it for free, since venting it is illegal. Once the system is empty you can just unbolt the lines and remove them.

Thanks for the advice I still want to take off the power steering pump I owned and older truck 1949 and loved the steering you have so much more control. But the AC advice is great I wasnt sure where to start. Thanks!!!!
