Five Lug Conversion Question.

I have 17x9 cobra r's currently. I have an 83GT which i put an 8.8 out of a thunder bird SC with Detroit locker and moser axles. Sn 95 spindles i will be installing when i get new wheels. Im looking to buy outlaw 15in rims and have no idea what back spacing or offset to get. i would like to use 7in wide in front and 8 or 9 in the rear. i bought 95 spec cobra r's and have minor rub issues in the rear by shock on inside and outside fender lip. Tire size is identical to when i had the 7.5 rear and 4 lug which i never rubbed once 275/40zr17. i drive my car about 3000miles a year if im lucky so i plan on running et streets for the rear wheels. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unless you wanna massage the rear wheel houses, try to stay inside of about 6" backspace on the rear, and about 5.5" on the front...you can get away with more, but you gotta use rack limiters to keep the tires from rubbing on the skirts and stuff...also, I'm sure you already figured this out, but the t-bird rear axle is wider than a stock Fox rear...0.75" wider per side.

If you only want an 8" rim, something with about 5" of backspace ought to work...there are quite a few folks on here are running 'bird rears, they might recommend you roll your fenders as well...
