That tenth could be just enough to get a small tap from valve to piston.
In minor cases I have done a pre load start with valve cover off and took my zero lash from there. And that will help tell that you are ok. But that is very old fashion. If you don't use shop rags to cover the other rockers could be a oil mess.
But in any case lets see where you are at after you install the other pushrods
update:
I did the length check. everything is good length wise.
I did the Top Dead Center check on every single piston and torqued them down again to 20 ft/lbs. Got to a half turn after ZERO lash, which is perfect according to research i've done and videos Ive watched.
Timing is on point now too.
So it really just seems that this is a noisy cam!
I had a temperature issue with my gauge but it seems the electrical temp gauge is outta whack. i installed a secondary Mechanical gauge and it doesn't go over 190, and stays around 185 with the thermostat open.
I have a leak on my transmission but it could be one of the plugs i put it and didnt seal it right.
it only happens during heavy acceleration.
