Best motor oil for high mileage motor

My 69 302 has 178K on the motor..heads have never been off. I have changed cams a coupla times and internals are super clean and still strong. Uses absolutely no oil. My question is what motor oil to use considering the hi mileage and original valves/seats. Oil was changed every 300 miles since...

I have a 69 coupe and have added the scoop with turn signals. Trying to figure the wiring. Looks like there is a harness from the hood signals..has bulbs etc. that says it connects at the firewall. My question is where? Thanks

    Ford Duraspark ignition

Parting out my 76 302 Granada and just wondering if the Duraspark ignition is any better (reliable) than my stock 69 dizzy with Pertronics. No longer want performance...dependability and mileage now motivate me.

    pertronix spacer

I remember a few years ago there was a post on adding a spacer to the distributor shaft on a Pertronix ignition. I believe it was on here but could not find in search. It had something to due with alignment. Does anyone know the specifics? Thanks

    power steering fluid. No ?

I have just discovered that the Ford manual and the dipsticks on my power steering pumps (69's) say to use automatic transmission fluid. No mention of power steering fluid which I have apparently been using all these years. The PS fluid sez it meets Ford specs, just don't use in a Honda. Any...

Difference in engine bay 69 vs. 70

I have been chasing a header fit issue with a 351 Cleveland in a 69 coupe. Hedman tech support is telling me that motor location is different in a 69 than in a 70. So headers for a 351c in a 70 coupe will NOT fit a 69. Am I wrong..aren't these the same? Are there differences in frame mounts...

    351c header fitting issue

I've got a 69 Mustang coupe and have been trying to get a set of Hedman headers to fit. The car had a unknown brand on it when I bought it 6 years ago but they are all dented and rusted, but fit great. My exhaust has been hooked up to these for 3 years. Now that the car is totaled striped down...

    cheap headlights

OK, I was up late one night and bought the diamond cut super white headlights with the H4 bulb on-line for my 69. Sez they plug into existing harness. OK but what about the two sets of red/black wires? Any help? Obviously no instructions included..said to have a "professional" install them...

    console mounted E-brake

Just replaced my original emergency brake assembly with an aftermarket one. It's a piece of junk, feels like the release handle will break off the first time I use it. So, I plan to go to a center floor mounted brake. don't have a console to worry about...any thoughts on which one to go for at...

    wax/polish for old paint

I've got a 69 with original Wimbleton White paint in great condition and have been using Zaino for the past few years. Most think it's a repaint and even ask who did it. Is there anything better for 35 year old paint? Or as good? The car is garaged and never sees rain..OK , 4 times in 10...

    Heat shield for starter

I'm having trouble with my 351C with long tube headers not cranking when hot. If I let it cool for 10 minutes, it's fine. I bought a wrap style heat shield for the starter but now I'm wondering if it's would cook the it like a baked potato. Should I wrap the headers near the starter instead...

tore up my water pump pulley

Heading home from the local cruise-in, I opened up the 69/302 on a nice lonely stretch of road., The C4 caught 2nd with a nice chirp and about 5 seconds later, I heard a loud metallic sound under the hood and immediately shut it off. It was my cheapo stamped steel chrome plated underdrive...

    351 Cleveland power steering

On a 351c, does the PS belt go from crank to PS pump or also around the water pump pulley? The crank pulley and the PS pulley have a 1/2" groove, the double groove water pump pulley has 2 3/8" grooves, one is for the alternator. Even though they line up, I'm thinking it's direct to the pump...
