Separating The Rack And Pinion From The Intermediate Shaft

Hey guys, I'm replacing my R&P and was wondering just how the clamp from the R&P to the Intermediate shaft works. I have the 12 point 7/16" bolt removed. Do I just spread the clamp and pull the shaft from the R&P out of it or what? My eyesight could be better and it's a bit dark and oily there...

Need Help With My 95 F150 5.0 Mass Air

Hey guys, I need a little help with a issue with my 1995 F150 5.0 with mass air. It's kinda strange. I pull a 5,000 pound trailer with it. The engine is bone stock except for a K&N filter. Whenever I put the truck into reverse and I'm backing up a light incline (my driveway is slightly...

I Need A Decent Head Unit

I'm looking for a decent stereo for my '92. Right now I have a hi-def radio in there and it sounds terrible. The factory cassette deck sounded 10 times better. I've replaced the speakers and added a small sub trying to get a decent sound and it's just not happening. I listen almost 100% to...

Houston... We may have a problem.

So just for grins and giggles I bought a NOS (new old stock) GTech Pro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. It's not accurate, it's ricer and etc. Whatever. It measures 0-60, 1/4 mile, 60-0 (braking), skip pad Gs and horsepower. So I install it on my windshield and head out to a deserted piece of...

    5.0 Standing Start Mile Run

Has anybody ever done a standing start 1 mile measured run? I got a chance to see a couple of Fox Mustangs and a 2001 Bullitt run at the Maxton, NC Hot Rod Challenge this past Saturday. It is run by the East Coast Timing Association. I wasn't throughly impressed by any of them, especially...

    HELP! Overheating

Hey All, Over the winter I did a H/C/I project on my 82,000 mile stock block 92 5.0. The mods are listed in my sig. When I first started the car it was overheating and continued to push the antifreeze back out of the cooling system. I did everything. Jack the left side of the car up...

Left and right side head gaskets?

Hey all, I was getting ready to bolt my P's down and noticed that my NAPA (Felpro) 8548 PT-2 head gaskets are marked FRONT on the left side of both gaskets. Should I just disregard that and put the graphite side down on both gaskets? If I do that the engine right side gasket will have FRONT at...

    Cam timing question

I'm degreeing in my cam and I have a quick question. It's a B cam with 5 BTDC and 39 ABDC on the intake. My check came up with 1 BTDC and 44 ABDC. Is this cam 4 degrees advanced the way it is? I reallize the closing would be 5 instead of 4.

MAC windage tray - DON"T BOTHER

I just wanted to get a heads up out there. Today I found out (the hard way) that the MAC windage tray won't work with the Fox rear sump oil pan and oil pump pickup. The tray hits the pan where it rises towards the block for the cross member. The tray also sticks out towards the side of the block...

    Painting intake manifold question

Hey, I'm going to paint my lower and upper tomorrow and I have a question. When I paint the lower should I mask off the holes for the injectors so paint doesn't get in them? I have the old 19# injectors and I could put them in the holes but they'll kinda be in the way. TIA

    Cam choice

Hey all, here's another one...:D Okay, I've run countless sims on Desktop Dyno. I know it's not accurate but it is very good at showing trends. I'm down to 2 cams which will remain un-named or specified. These 2 cams had the best "under the curve" numbers I could get. One of them was...

    I couldn't resist dang it!

Well, here I go spending more hard earned money not making any more power. I dropped 300+ bucks on Competition Engineering rear shocks and Strange Engineering front struts. I know it will help out in the long run to have the car ready for when I do put some money into power but it sure does hurt...

    Thumpr cam?

In the latest issue of 05 Mustang they have a short blurb about the new Comp Cams Thumpr cams for Chevys. The reason they put it in 05 Mustang is because Comp is supposed to be making a version of it for the 5.0. I have noticed that a lot of their "series" cams are pretty much the same...

    Fuel line replacement questions

I have to replace about a 12" section of my fuel lines coming from my fuel filter and tank. The portion of the lines at the very rear of the car has rusted out from being in too many Jersey winters. The rest of the line looks excellant all of the way to the engine. Both the feed and return are...

    Thoughts about this cam

I see a lot of people talking about the alphabet cams and all kinds of others but what about this cam: http://www.holley.com/51026LUN.asp This cam was designed by Lunati for Holley for use in the original SysteMax 5.0 kit. It is 50 state legal and works in the lower RPM range. Since I will...

    94/95 MAF install completed!

Well it took me 6 weeks but I have finally completed my 94/95 MAF install on my '92 5.0. Most of the time was spent doing an exhaustive search for a adapter so the MAF would attach to my cold air or for that matter any cold air intake. There simply is not a adapter available so I had to make my...
