    Changed Timing Belt, now Knocking...???

I just changed the timing belt on my 91LX. I lined up the cam and crank gears, checked it about 10 times now. Its a DIS car, but I lined up the auxiliary shaft gear anyways. Got it all together, started right up, but there's a loud knocking (more like a tapping) under the valve covers...

    Aluminum Head Question

What does a pair of aluminum heads weigh? Fully assembled, AFR's if it matters. I'm trying to calculate postage, they're in their original box if it matters. Thanks

    My Cam doesn't fit. :(

    Considering helping friend with longtubes...

Well, I've got a friend whose in a bind. He's got a 99 Cobra and tried to install longtubes himself, but didn't quite succeed. He got the car back together and is going to pay to have them done. I'm very mechanically inclined, I've done tons of longtubes on 5.0's, transmission jobs, and am...

    Stud Mount Rockers

This is my first time installing stud mount rockers, always used pedestal. Are the rockers supposed to be suspended up the stud by the valve and the pushrod? In other words, unlike pedestal, does the middle of the rocker not rest on anything? Also, in that rotating part of the rocker...

    Oilpan Rails 351W

I don't have the oilpan rails (those two solid pieces that the bolts tension up onto the pan) for my 351W. The rails off of my 302 fit the pan close enough to where only one corner needs to be grinded a little, and the front bolt hole widened. With those mods, it would fit perfectly. Would...

    Worried about my combo, input?

I'm worried that the heads I previously decided on may not be up to par for the rest of the combo. Its a 351W DSS Flat Top pistons Comp Cam, .6001 Intake .5797 Exh// Duration .050 228/234 // Sep 111* Trick Flow R 351 Intake 1 3/4 LT Headers 75mm TB My original plan was AFR 185's...

    Pushrod length checker question

I have a 351W with AFR 185 heads going on. I'm trying to buy a pushrod length checker, but don't know what range to get. Summit lists them (inches): 7.5-8.7 6.125-7.5 8.5-9.8 9.7-11 10.2-11.5 Which set do I need to get? Its a hydraulic roller conversion if that matters.

    1995 Cobra R question

What did the 1995 Cobra R's MSRP at when they were new (in 1995)? Thanks

Is it worth rebuilding this T5?

Budget only allows me to place my T5 behind my new 351W with AFRs, FTI Cam, TFR intake, exhaust, etc etc. Budget will allow me in a few months to install G-Force internals. In the mean time... the T5 already gives me a rare 2nd and 3rd gear grind when racing, and often grinds 2nd when...

    351W distributor

Alright, I know I am going to need a steel gear, and I know what distributor to buy, but where do I find this steel gear? Ford? What applications should I ask for, or is there a place online I can order? 351W EFI Hydraulic roller cam 76 block.

    Rod resizing

My machinist has already ground my crank to 10/10, I was going to reuse my stock rod bolts on my 351W football rods, but decided to go ahead with ARP bolts. I already have my crank bearings, and the crankshaft has already been reground. When he presses the bolts and resizes the rods, will I...

    Compression ratio confusion

Alright, I've run through a few of those online compression ratio calculators, and for a 351W stock stroke flat top piston minus 6cc for valve reliefs, with 58cc heads and a 4.030 bore I'm looking at around 11.1:1 CR. For the 13cc dish its giving me close to 10.2:1 CR, more of my liking...

    351W forged pistons

Wow, having trouble finding a flat top forged piston for the 351W. Summit doesn't carry any, and Jegs literally doesn't have anything forged for the Fords, only hypereucrackems. I'm building a 351W 30 over to run naturally aspirated with stock rods reconditioned and stock crank. The pistons...

    Resurface headers?

I just picked up a used set of longtubes, the surfaces where it meets the head are kind of beat. I heard once that you can resurface these, is this true? What kind of shop do I need to look for, and how much should I expect to spend?

    Shorter intake?

Which intake is shorter, the 351W Edelbrock Performer RPM or the 351W Trick Flow R? By shorter, I mean overall height.

    Core charge question

I'm picking up a distributor from Autozone for my 351W, I'm grabbing one for a 94 Lightning. The problem is that I don't have that exact core, but all I have is the old points style distributor which came in the engine. The core charge is $60... will they take this old points distributor...

    Power loss from flat tappet

How much power are you actually losing out of by staying flat tappet vs going roller? My 351W block is flat tappet, and I plan on getting an FTI custom cam regardless wether or not I stay flat or roller. What kind of number difference is there powerwise?

    Fox Oil Pan???

I've searched around, every post mentioning items for a 351W swap in a 94/95 just says "swap pan". Is this the fox swap pan, or do the SN95's need a special swap pan for the 351W?
