    Transmission Problem

I'm editing and deleting my original post: "gone" I did some more tests on the way home. My tran drops into first no problem by either selecting 1st or Drive. It doesn't move into second however unless I move the selector there (no automatic control). Same thing with 3rd, except also, it...

    Slipping at rest

Kinda a sounds like a strange thing to do doesn't it...well maybe if you're drunk enough.. Tranny is C4 Auto: Happens when cold and very low speeds and rest. Fluid level is right. 1st gear in Drive mostly and also happens in reverse occasionally. Only for the 1st couple minutes when its...

    Dumb ? - Tire pressure?

This is almost embarrassing to ask. What's the correct tire pressure for a 302? I don't have the door sticker. Never have. I've always kept my pressure at 29 psi up front and 27 in the rear. That's my best guess. With the new wheels on, I'm wondering if that's right or close even. :)

    Waterpump Problem

Thought this would be no sweat. I did my water pump this weekend. But I brought the old one down to the parts store after I noticed a difference between the one they gave me and my old one. The guy read the part number off my old one and brought out an identicle pump that also wasn't right. So I...

    Strange...

Just noticed with the new 225/60/r15's on that the clearance between my tire and fender well is offset differently on each side. I have about 2.5 inches between the well and tire on the passenger side and only a little over an inch on the driver side. So rub issues on the driver side...

    Undercharging

    K. So I'm at 11.65 V and it doesn't change much with the engine running. When the Regulator is by-passed with a running engine I get 14 V...hmmmmm. Seems to say that the alt is working ok. I thought "ok, replace the regulator" right??? Wrong :( I could really use some help on the wiring...

    Queen City Car Show

I think that's what it was called. I just went downtown and saw all these beautiful cars. So I spent a few hours strolling about. I saw all types- trucks and station wagons, GT350's, a GT500, Chargers, etc...lots of beautiful cars. But guess what the cherry on the cake was? Gee could it be...

    End of my rope!

Ok guys. I hate to say it but I think I need professional help! I really hate the idea of being at the mercy of someone doing a diagnostic for a problem I wish I could figure out  So here's how it is. I hope someone recognizes the problem... Problem: Loud tapping to a metallic...

    Pitch/roll/understeer

I finished my suspension rebuild - new bushings, springs, shocks, balljoints, tierods and bearing repack. Wheel alignment done as well. Ride is much improved. Sweet :nice: But I'm noticing some jerkiness when cornering at high speed. I don't know if this is what the books mean by...

    History repeats? - Gas prices

Kinda seems that the Mustang II will be back on Ford's prototype list afterall if these gas prices keep going up. Maybe the 302 will be respected as being fiesty for a small(er) car after all. The only regret I have right now is that they didn't build the whole darn frame out of aluminum. But...

    Upper A arm posture

The big day has arrived! I'm totally redoing my front suspension, including all the bushings.  While I was removing the upper a-arms I noticed that by loosening the bushing nuts (ie. on the pivot bolt) you can adjust the "tilt" of the upper a-arm to a natural...

    Thud! Was that a cyclist?

More road scars for the stang: Was driving to work this morning and this cyclist comes burning out of an alley from behind a Dodge Ram. So I hit the brakes and manage to stop pretty easy since I wasn't going to fast and I was going up a steep hill. Only this kid is hauling and he can't stop...

    Getting ripped off...

Well, I need some advice. I've been waiting and waiting for a rear spoiler I ordered from this guy and it's been over a month. I sent him a Money Order in good faith but it looks like I was stupid. I was really surprised because he seemed really sincere (so said the virgin on her first night out...

    Suspension Upgrade/Rebuild Questions

I've been planning this for awhile. Thing is I don't want to go ahead and try something and then hate myself later. Right now my suspension is pretty much original, other than the balljoints, strut rods and tierod ends, which have been replaced. I've looked at the tubular kits...

    Chrome trim removal?

Is there a way to take off the trim that goes around the windshield/rear window, drip edge above the door, top of door, etc. I'm wanting to paint underneath but don't want to ruin these parts which are almost impossible (anything is possible for $$$) to find these days.

Just screwing up my carb settings...

I'm going to ask this at the risk of sounding stupid. Is it possible to increase the richness of the fuel mixture related to the choke setting on a cold engine? The choke has a black dial that says rich > lean <. It has adjustment screws. Does my answer lie therein? Will the mixture lean out...

    Needle valve

I think I got some crap stuck in my needle valve. I opened up the throttle and felt the G's as I passed this stupid SUV on a small stretch who was doing 5 km under the limit. After that, the engine was running real rough & stumbling, lots of black smoke and it finally stalled out (when I got...

    Tach drift/wander

Has anyone ever had this problem? I've heard of it on the newer stangs but it seems to be a computer problem. Not sure what it could be on mine. The idle speed wanders when the vehicle is stationary and in gear, after the idle kicks down to regular curb idle. Goes from about 900 to 400 rpm (in...

    Holy header headaches Batman!

I've been scouring the history on header's and it seems that they are a very tricky thing to have installed. But I want to ask a question: If you could redo your headers on (a 302 MII) what would you do differently? What brand/model would you buy, being practical of course? What...
