Ok so I got some time to take a look at it and everything seems ok. There's no tears or cracks in the uppers, no bushings seem bad. It does has SSM Lift bars, could they be making this much noise?

Can you hear it when the uppers are starting to tear out? There's a bad noise coming from the rear of my '89 and it's quickly getting worse. Every move the car makes it sounds like there's torn metal and it's shifting. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I'm fearing the worse.

I have an '89 lx 5 spd. When I upshift into second sometimes it won't catch the gear. It will slide into place but there will be nothing there. When I'm downshifting into second it's the same thing except it catches the gear a bit and grinds. I'm guessing I'm up for a reuild?

I just recently picked up an '89 Hatch with a 331. It has SSM rear lift bars on it as well. When I picked it up I didn't know to check the torque boxes as this is my first stang and I'm just learning. I got to looking at it and the lowers are tearing out a bit. I'm going to buy the Wild Rides...

Yea I would imagine there would be better springs in it if he went as far to port them and put oversize valves. He was using them on his supercharged 5.0.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm a first timer going to look at an '89 this weekend. Where exactly is the torque box?

I'm not sure on what springs it has. All I know is ported and oversize valves. It has a t5z tremec. Also I'm not sure on gears and I believe it has the stock intake. I'll find out more in the next few days. I don't want to put too much into the 302 as I'm planning on a 408 for hopefully next...

So I'm going to be picking up an '89 LX this weekend. It's my first mustang. It comes with a set of ported e7 heads not installed. I'm figuring I may as well put in a cam at the same time I put the heads on. What cam would be best for these heads? Also it has headers if that makes enough of a...
