Thanks all your help and advice:) Yes the rods and pump are on the shelves in my garage and the pistons are supposed to arrive within a few weeks, I bought them because I want to have a solid bottom on the engine, it may be completed with a windage tray, haven´t decided about that yet...

Change them anyway, it´s not that easy to know when they are going to fail, so . If you have owned the car for some years and have some miles on it I´d suggest to replace them, and when your at it, replace the bushings also and then you won´t have to think about these parts for a long time.:nice:

It´s maybe obvious, but have you flushed the radiator, it may be that you have a lot of sediment in it, and do you have the fan shroud mounted ... it helps more than people usually think.

It´s quite easy to check the alternator, simply check the voltage over + and - on the battery when engine is idling. I don´t realy know how much the regulator gives (I´m running a Bosch alternator with built in regulator), but i should read approx 12.7V

Sorry!! It is 289 CID. Is it possible ti use a cam from a 289 CID in a 351? I am confusing myself with this. The idea is to use a cam from a 289cid High Power and insatl it in a 351cid Windsor.

I´m in process off starting up my -69, since the old 302 was to tired it was left alone and I found a 351W that`s in good shape, but... The 351 is from a old van (-89), obviously the camsaft isn`t what I want. A friend of mine sugested me to install a cam from the 289 HP, will that work...
