How do I identify my brake hoses?...

I have a 1968 GT with front disks (non power) and rear drums. Dont know if they're original brakes but they looks stock. best thing to do is probably to take a photo of my brakes and hoses and email it to NPD.

    Transmission leak problem

Thanks guys. I have already installed a large fuel filter at the end of the hose, which is basically the tin can idea but has a filter to hold back the oil. Took the car out for a good spin and the filter is half full, i'll see tomorrow if it has drained back into the transmission. If this...

How do I identify my brake hoses?...

I dropped my car in to have a few bits done including replacing the flexible brake hoses. I ordered the parst from NPD but when my mechanic tried to fit them the fitting didnt match. The fittings on the front ones from NPD had unusual square fittings on one end but my car just uses simple...

    Transmission leak problem

I have a 68 with a 4 speed manual from a Ford F150. Last year the selector shaft broke, I had it repaired but when I got it back it kept leaking from the breather hole at the top of the box. My mechanic looked at it for me as said the tray in the inside of the transmission lid is missing...

Thats great guys. Are the seals and bearings standard for a 68 or does it vary depending on the size of the diff etc. I think mine has a 9" diff.

    Question about axle oil seals....?

Thanks ravenblack, I understand what you've said and thats what they plan on doing, my question really was do i order rear axle oil seals like NPD said, or is my mechanic correct in telling me to get half-shaft oil seals? Or are the one and the same thing????

    Question about axle oil seals....?

I had oil leaking on my rear drums which I thought was the master cylinders. I got new ones but when my mechanic took the brakes appart to fit them they discovered the leaking oil was coming from the rear axle. My mechanic told me to get half-shaft oil seals but the guys in NPD say the car...

How does V.8 compare to V.6?

Of course you can compare them, havn't I already compared the V.6 to my 18.T Audi A6? Now the difference between a V.6 Mustang and a V.8 Mustang is far less than a Mustang to an Audi. Ok, so lets put it this way. Anyone out there who has driven BOTH a V.6 and a V.8, can you please describe...

How does V.8 compare to V.6?

I have just come back from a week long trip to L.A. Went rented a brand new V.6 Mustang with just 5k on the clock. I drove the car a hell of a lot in the week as i'm geuinely interested in getting one of these. But the V.6 was a collosal dissapointment. I wouldnt buy a V.6 anyway but i...

Guys, Is There Or Is There Not A Sb On The Front End Of These Cars?

I'm just back in Ireland from L.A. where we rented a V.6 and this had the same problem. My friend left thinking it was down to poor build quailty but i figured it was a teething problem. Looks like i was right. What I dont understand though is how this problem didnt present itself on any of...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

Hack, I wasnt even remotely offended by your post and for the most part I agree, for many people a 911 is just a display of wealth. The point I was making is this, if thats how someone wants to see me when I'm in a Porsche, thats ok with me, it took a very long time to get to the point where I...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

Fistly i'm not trying to be creative or cool with the Porsche, I'm already doing that with the Mustang. My point was simply that an early 90's Porsche is less common here than a new one, so it takes a little bit of effort to get one, buts its certainly not unique or a head turner. I totally...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

Great commenst guys, great comments. The reason I'm on here, looking for your advice and comments is because i fear that in six months time i'll regret selling this car. But then maybe in a few years i'll come back to the Mustang and buy a Boss 302 or even a Shelby, who knows. He'll i might...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

To the guy who pulled me up on not knowing my Porsche's because I accidently wrote 996 instead of 964, well excuse me! To the rest of berating me for not being able to make up my mind or being too dumb to realise that a 68 Gt Fatsback is preferable to a 90's 911, well you have to understand...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

I'll try to respond to all your questions. How many cherry 68 fastbacks do I see in Ireland every year. Appart from mine? None. Its one of only maybe 3 or 4 1968 fastbacks in Ireland and the best one I've seen, no question. How many mid-90's 911's do I see in Dublin every week? Very few...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

I was actually going to replace the whole front and rear suspension this summer (financial issues stopped me doing it earlier) but my resent doubts have stopped me. I totally agree about a 68 fastback having a greater 'WOW' factor than a 911, thats a no-brainer. Wherever I go people whip out...

1968 GT fastback or Porsche 911?

I have an immaculate 1968 GT Fastback with a 302 V8 and factory highland green pain (re-sprayed), so all in all i'm pretty lucky to own such a beautiful car. Lately though i've lost my enthusiasm for the car. Its beautiful, and great in a straight line but otherwise I dont find it a...

Top Gear Review on 05 GT

With the $ getting weaker and weaker the Mustang is becoming cheaper and cheaper in europe. I worked it out that if i can get a Mustang to Ireland, including shipping and import duty for around 34,000 euros ($45,000). Thats cheaper than an Audi A3, which would cost me 34,000 euros. If the...

Top Gear Review on 05 GT

This may surprize you guys but... ..the guy you are slagging off for being anti-american cars showed off his new purchase on a resent episode, his life long desire, a 1968 Dodge Charger. So whether his opinion is right or wrong, he's a fan of American muscle. By the way, the Mustang is a...
