Anybody Know what Is Wrong here?

I second that. I was having trouble too after changing to a high volume water pump and 180* t-stat. I replaced the sending unit because it was cheap, about $7. That helped slightly but still did not make me feel comfortable because the reading was different since I changed the pump and t-stat...

Upper rear axle housing bushing swap

Does anyone know the exact measurements of the items listed to make this tool? It would be nice to make it rather than pay $40 for a tool I would probably only use this one time. The hole drill bit is a good idea if I cannot make a tool to press it out. Thanks.

turbine wheels (well they where stock on 5.0) anyone ever see aftermarket pony caps?

I don't mean to highjack this thread but I just got a set of Pony's to replace my turbine wheels and I was interested in replacement center caps for them. Can they be bought? If so where? Can I get them silver or chrome? Thanks again. Aloha

    Good deed done...

Well since the alternator is a spare it would not be a problem on my side. Hell you I think he is a die-hard because he just got the car a short time ago - you know how that goes don't you? He said that he recently got a brand new alternator but I really doubt he sprung for the 130a...

Tapping from valve covers or cam/lifters...help.

Well all of yesterday went by and I did not once here the noise that pushed me to start this thread. That is even after sitting in the worst traffic I ever experienced in my 33 years of life. I must have sat in traffic for a good 2 hours only traveling about 2 - 2.5 miles before I had to stop to...

Tapping from valve covers or cam/lifters...help.

Well, I spent the day looking further into this issue. I removed the upper intake so that I can more easily remove the driver side valve cover. Once I had access to the valves I got cyl 1 TDC and checked the valves that where completely closed at this point. Turned the crank pulley another 360*...

    Good deed done...

Well, I am at lunch today with my co-workers and Sol calls - the guy that I helped with the flat tire. He says that he has the wheels and that we can meet on Wednesday so he can give them to me. What a guy. What do you all think I should do to show my appreciation? I have an extra brand new...

Hey guys, thanks for the good B-Day wishes. I can hardly wait to get the Pony's on my car. What tires are you fellas running with the Pony's? Anyone running Michelin's? Aloha

Thanks for the details and the happy wish. Aloha

    Good deed done...

HISSIN50 - Thanks for the B-Day wish. I cannot complain a bit about the life I lead :). TheUser - Looks like I will not be mounting these wheels for a while because my 15" tires have about 75% of their life remaining. Oh wait, after that major burnout today maybe the fronts have 75% but the...

    Good deed done...

I picked up the spare today. When I got there I was talking to him (Sol) about his car. He then hands me a large snack gift basket for my family and I to enjoy for the holidays as a token of his appreciation for my good deed. We were talking about our cars and our plans for them. I noticed...

    Good deed done...

Well I was driving down the freeway tonight and I saw a fellow stanger pulled off on the shoulder. I had to stop and offer my assistance. Turns out his '92 LX 5.0 blew the tire completely to shreds and the tread of the tire passed him up as he slowed and ended up about 100 yds down the road...

Tapping from valve covers or cam/lifters...help.

That's interesting. My manual said 5 qts w/ filter change. I gave it 5 and the level was where I explained. I just poured in another 1/2 qt about 30 min ago and the stick is now reading full. I will drive it around tomorrow and see what happens. I have to run the fuel down anyway so I can...

Tapping from valve covers or cam/lifters...help.

No, that's not it. I have about 38 at idle when hot and 60-65 when on the gas. Do these engines need to be run with the oil all the way up the dipstick? If so, I only have about 3/4 between the low and high mark. Thanks again.

    Overheating problems

I had a similar problem recently with the exception of the boiling over. I think the issue was two fold (1) the stock gauge is a POS (2) I believe I had a flow problem because only half of my radiator would get hot and the other side was about 15+ degrees cooler or more. I hope this helps...

I live on Oahu. How do you know so much about Hawaii? Just curious. Did you see my other post about tapping?

Tapping from valve covers or cam/lifters...help.

I have a '90 GT with 44k original miles. Since I have owned the car I noticed that when the car has been at running temp for 15+ minutes there is an obvious tapping type noise that appears to be coming from the left bank (driver side). You can hear like a slight valve tap but there appears to be...

    Is it possible...?

Well finally. Well, since the other posts I have made on this topic I will keep this update brief. 1-I bought a new temp sender and it seemed to help, at least slow the temp rising. Car still never overheats but the stock gauge goes up to about the 3/4 but immediately cools to below 1/2...
