    Tire Reccomendations for 2006 GT

Thanks for all the replies. The car came with Pirelli "p zero nero" p235/55zr17 tires. I still have them on my car. They seemed to work pretty well, maybe I should just get another set of those. Never had a flat with them in about 2.5 years of driving with rotations every 6-9k miles.

    Tire Reccomendations for 2006 GT

Hi.....I Tried doing a search but couldn't come up with too much so here goes..... I have a 2006 GT with about 40,000 miles on it. Love the car and have had zero problems with it, but it's time to replace my tires. I have the stock baseline 17" painted aluminum wheels. What I'm...

Sub and Amps installed in '06, pics, vid

Looks nice 05 torch! I've heard good things about the ARC subs, very similair to IDQ's, right? How does the setup sound? Any pics of the Koda and the tweets? Mounting the amps on the subbox is probably the way to go if you can pull it off, but I had a hard enough time fitting my box in...

Sub and Amps installed in '06, pics, vid

The sub is an RE SX 12", 1.9 cubic feet, ported, tuned to 33hz, 2x9.5" port area. Sounds great, plays loud and low. Sub-**** Video: http://media.putfile.com/RESX12v1 Apprantly I need some more glue for the carpet on the side of the port. Crossfire VR1000D for the SX 12" and...

    Upgraded door speakers

I see the flap you were talking about, but doubt my 1/0 gauge wire would've fit through. Unfortunately I fried my Head Unit tonight, turns out, when I tried to splice into the factory wire I connected the speaker outputs from my external amp to the speaker outputs from the Head Unit, rather...

    Upgraded door speakers

I ran the wire through the firewall almost dead center in front of the passenger seat, about halfway between the bottom of the glove box and the floor. I almost hit a coolant line with the drill bit, but luckily I missed. You have to tear through a good 3/4" of insulation to get to the...

    Upgraded door speakers

The mounting depth of the ones I installed was 2.75". I had at least .5" of clearance between the back of the speaker and the window, if not more. The primary reason I used the 3/4" MDF baffle ring was for a more solid and smooth mounting surface than the bare metal of the door. It would...

    Upgraded door speakers

I had the stock system, non-shaker. I ordered it that way because I knew I was going to do my own upgrades. The nice thing about having the shaker would be the better speaker cutout in the bottom of the door panel. That would be a better place to put a 6.5" or 8" midrange than the higher up...

    Upgraded door speakers

If the door panel covers any of the speaker, it's not much at all. It's hard to say for sure since you can't really see the speaker once you put the door panel on, but it sounds fine. The tweeter is pretty much in the dead center of the factory grille. There's plenty of clearance between the...

    2006 how to instal speakers

I just made a pretty detailed post about this topic in the tech forum. I hope it helps. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=615903 The key with the door panels is making sure you remove all 9 hex head screws and the 2 star head screws. The star head screws are hidden behind panels...

    Upgraded door speakers

Finally got the chance to replace the stock door speakers today. Took a good 4 or 5 hours of work, but at least it's done. Removing the doors went as follows: First you need to remove the A-pillar panel from each side (the piece of plastic directly beside the rear-view mirrors). The...

    Colors & Pictures

I went with tungsten and have been happy with it. It does have a slight purple hue but now that I've had it for a while I think it looks even better than the mineral gray metallic that I oringally wanted. I get complements on the color all the time, every seems to think it's okay.

Hey, thanks for the avatar, nice work! How'd you get an amimated avatar though? The forums told me no dice when I tried the blinking version. Ahh well, looks good either way. Latest Work.....stereo upgrade, did the cd player tonight: Here's the subwoofer box in progress...

How Long Did You Wait For Yours ?

Well he says in the original post he ordered on '05. If he ordered in May he should've gotten on '05. I have no idea if he could expect to get an '05 or an '06 now. I guess that just depends on wether his car has been made and has been held up getting to the dealer somehow or if the order is...

How Long Did You Wait For Yours ?

I ordered my '06 GT in late september and it came in 8 weeks later, just a week before halloween. I had one of the new '06 colors too. Something is definitely horribly wrong if it's taking this long to get an '05.

    what are those things?

A salesman told me they were microphones for the stereo system. When it senses louder road noise at high speeeds, it's supposed to increase the volume of the stereo to compensate, and vice versa when you decelerate to lower speeds.

Question for you new S197 Owners

I've had my '06 GT for about a month now and have no complaints whatsoever. Great car, fun to drive, handles well, it's fast, the interior is actually pretty decent for a Ford and the gas mileage isn't going to completely destroy your budget (I average about 22 MPG's with about 60/40...

    Kill Stories

Well my only Kill story is my roomate's 67 Mustang with a 302. He actually beats me off the line for about 20 feet, but by second gear it's cya later in my '06 GT. I think he might be faster at first because he has an automatic and can get a quicker jump on me, being a crappy driver in a...

    Drilling through the firewall

Thanks for the replies. I'm not worried about the missing the spare tire since I have 24 hour road side assistance and I just drive the car in town. I have friends and family who can bail me out if I need them to. In addition, the removal of the spare tire and jack should help offset the...

Fitting 6.5" coaxial in the doors of an '06?

I was wondering how difficult it is to fit a set of 6.5" speakers in the doors of an '06 Mustang with the base stereo (no shaker). I believe crutchfield says there are 6x8's stock up front, so it doesn't seem like a 6.5" speaker would be too much of a stretch. Has anyone done it? Is there...
