does anyone know what the stock 1/4 mile time for a 66 coupe is? Its a 289 auto with the high performance heads, or so my buddy says. Thanks.

Depends on the tranny and the rear gear.

    I have a '65 coupe with the A-code 289 (4bbl car), 4-speed toploader and 3.00 rear gears.

On street tires, I was running low 16's, high 15's with old chrome traction bars and a Holley 600cfm 1850 carb.

mid to low 16's with stock equipment, including the 2.80 gears, were normal times for 65-66 mustang V8's. the hipo's ran quicker, usually in the mid to low 15's. as for the heads, there were a couple of differences between the "standard" and the "hipo" 289 heads. one was the screw in studs, the other was the cast in spring seat. other than that there was NO difference between the heads.
