1992 Windshield Leaks

I have a 1992 Gt with a sunroof. I have/had a leak around the windshield that has destroyed the headliner. First thought it was the sunroof but eliminated that. It appears that there are openings around the trim mold clips that allow water in the car. Is this correct?
Is there a problem in this area with age and rust?
I put silicon sealer around the clips and stopped the leaks but I doubt that I can get the trim mold back on now.

I thought my windshield was leaking also but discover the plastic pieces that the front of the sunroof clips into was leaking around the gasket. Siliconed underneath and all around those parts in the sunroof channel with the sunroof out. Problem solved till I gut the interior on of these days so I can see what the gasket really looks like and possibly replicate.....
