 I am 16 and I just got a 1996 GT. I changed the gears to 3.73's and I have flowmasters ready to be installed. I was wondering what power would i get out of headers and what others things can i do to increase horsepower so i can eat the tuners around here. I can do pretty much anything so I am not worried about mechanics and what not. Thanks. :hail2:

I just got a '96 GT too ...I got an X-pipe and flows so far ...gonna get gears soon ... how do the 3.73s feel? what rpms are you runnin at 70 mph? As far as the headers, you'll pick up 10+ horses I'd say, and they sound mean ..I wanna get them eventually, but I like how mine sounds already :nice:

Other mods - pulleys, intake, etc are all common/cheap things to free up some horses

head swap is the best mod but if you plan to supercharge the higher compression wont make it a good idea. headers will help but you will loose a little torque down low.

What gain do you get out of pi heads is it like 40 or 50?

Because you have a 96' with npi (non-power improved) heads, your greatest gain in power would come from a PI headswap. The swap involves changing the heads, cams, and intake manifold to the 99-04' style. Here is a link to check out http://www.enthusedproductions.com/headswap/.

I will be doing my headswap within the next two months :D Let me know if you have any questions about the swap :nice:

On average. With the compression being higher than 99+ PI engines you will get around 10 HP more than a stock PI engine.

Neo beautiful car my dad is looking at a cobra but from what I hear the Mach is better for drag because it has a solid rear axle where the cobra has independent rear axles.

Best bang for the buck is for you to install a PI intake and PI cams on your car. You'll pick up a lot of the HP you'd get from the entire headswap and for a whole lot less. Best part of it is that if you decide to do the headswap down the road you already have a bunch of the parts you need. If you have the $$$ buy some aftermarket longer duration cams. You can buy the stuff used off of ebay or any of the parts sections on the Mustang forums.
