Well, I haven't finished up the press release on our 05 Cobra project just yet, but I figured I'd share a teaser pic with my fellow II lovers.

I just finished up the car yesterday, and today is the first time anyone has seen it other than me, since I started building it. Can you guess what it's influenced by? :D :D

More pics to come soon, and please try to keep this picture contained to the II forum for now. Thanks!

Let's see the '05 crowd try and deny the similarities now! Sal, you'll probaby get bashed by a few of them...but, I seriously doubt you will care....will you? :D
OK, now we need a pic of this next to the ThunderSnake... :nice:

:hail2: :jaw: :hail2: All I can say is DAYUM that is nice. Much to what I thought you had in mind when you first teased us in an earlier thread. And I thought I was evil for wanting a white 05 with the red leather interior to match my 78's white/"porno red" scheme :D

But yes It needs to be shown with it's "older Brother" parked next to it for effect

    Sweet :nice:

The hood scoop looks pretty familiar.
    Any louvers forthcoming?

Yep...that front air dam sure gives it that vintage/retro 70's look! The rear spoiler looks like a cut down version of the II's ducktail, which looks awesome as well. The II scoop adds a nice subtle touch too. Great job. I think the front air damn really balances out the proportions of the car. It visually makes the front end look a bit longer and lower, and not so short when view from the side.

Sal...I'd love to see this car wearing a set of those Ansen repro wheels..the ones that look like the stock II mags. But, those white spokes do look excellent too, matching the white stripes. So much better than a lot of those thin spokewheels that are so popular now.

I've kinda felt the '05's lacked just a little something from the start. Now I understand what it was...a touch of II!

The lines of that car are pretty close to visually perfect. I like the '05s a lot, and that one looks even better. Nice job.
Have you done anything evil to the powerplant yet? I want to see a blower on that thing.

I would've suggested putting a "V" after the Cobra name (for the number of generations), but we all know what happens to a cars reputation when you use roman numerals in its name!!! :rlaugh:

Sweet looking car none the less, and it should be proud of its inspirations!!! :hail2:

    I think it comes standard with a V6...and a 139hp 2bbl 302 is optional. :rlaugh:

Seriously, would it really matter if there were no additional mods from a stock (05) engine under the hood?

    Yes.

This car looks nothing like a II. I don't know where you get that from? Looks 100x hotter than any II.

Some people lack the visual perception of others. It must suck for you.

So, I must assume, that you just aren't happy with the performance of any stock '05?

As for how it looks....your comparison opinion is subjective. But regardless, the answer to where I "get that" should be obvious by the fact that the things making this particular car look so great and stand out from the rest, are the items that show direct resemblance to the II's.
Funny how you could appreciate its styling points common to the late 60's cars, but not give credit to the styling cues lifted from the II, that directly inspired this one.

    1988 Ford Mustang GT Hatchback
Engine: Stock 5.0 w/ some unknown headers.
    Transmission: T-5.
    Exhaust: Flowmasters.

Hmmm.....thinking those stripes and spoiler might make your Fox actually look like a Mustang.

Yup, once again a Fairmont owner speaks out. At least the guys with glorified Falcons have something to be proud of.

If you can't see the obvious similarity between the lines of the II and a stock '05, your vision is worse than my dead grandmother's...
